I have gotten into 4 different betas, receive a 20% discount at my favorite game store, and have been quoted in quite a few articles because I am a SWG refugee.
In WoW, our guild is the Intrepid Exiles. As in the Intrepid server.
Have had lots of people ask if we're from SWG, and when told "hell yes" have developed many a great ingame relationship. Even recruited some due to it.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me. I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too. 09f911029d74e35bd84156c5635688c0

LOL... well put, I liked Agricola's synopsis of the train wreak too.
The weird thing is ... it's true... all jokes have a foundation of truth in them to be humorus.... and sadly to say statements like this are funny and true at the same time.
Weird how a game can effect your life so much... but then again, It's STAR WARS.....
I've had the same experience in EVE, CoH and WoW. The comment that SWG vets are treated "like they just got back from a war" is one of the best ways to sum it up that I've seen so far.
And that's why no other game evokes such a response.
Sure, other games have had problems and driven subscribers off in droves (Horizons, etc), but this is the first time it's happened in such a dramatic, public way. Not because of a shaky patch, or a crappy expansion, or a less-than-good rollout, but THROUGH DIRECT WILLFUL ACTION OF THE PUBLISHING COMPANY.
It's the difference between surviving a pitched gunfight and being hit by stray fire over coffee at the breakfast table. The folks in the gunfight bond with those they're fighting with...nobody bonds with the guy drinking his coffee.
And yet...both got shot.
That, imo, is the reason why you can log on anywhere, yell "Who's an SWG vet!?!", and immediately start trading galaxy names.

Sums up the reason why I hate SOE and any Sony related products.
