It would reign supreme Unfortunately the MMO rights are still held by interplay which has neither the money nor the dev talent to make any new game let alone an MMO.
Yeah sad to say. They could however liscense it out to an MMO development company like Funcom for instance which would be even better. On a side note I loved all the Fallout games, and does anyone remember wasteland? It's an old old PC game that is sort of the precurser to the Fallout games. Which is to say same genre as Fallout just a few generations of games earlier, it has nothing to do with the fallout series at all.
If you havn't played it I think you can pick it up for free on a few sites around the net and give it a whirl, it's hilarious to see how fast it moves on todays machines.

You mean Interplay the segment of EA which will be aquiring Mythic? That group who has no dev's with any experience making MMOs? Though I doubt Fallout would be on the list of priority series to turn into a MMO, it is really more of a cult hit. Amazingly popular on forums, but long forgotten past the more dedicated gamers.

Interplay is still doing its own SEC filings so as far as I know they have not been bought by EA.
And boy are those filings ugly! Total assets down to $360 thousand, total debt over $12 million, total earning for the first 3 months of 2006 $100 thousand total expenses $500 thousand over that same period and $0 in product development.
I can’t even see anyone buying them at this point. The only way the Fallout license can get clear is if/when they go bankrupt and the receiver liquidates their assets.
Yes, they only own the rights to produce a standalone version of the game. I think it could be multiplayer, just not an MMO. (Does anyone know if they actually full out own the rights or simply have a license to produce one or more games?)
If they ever produce a game, I’m guessing they will just use the engine from their Elder scrolls games, which would suck as well since the feel of the games is totally different.

Since when? Most of the people from Black Isle studios which was the development arm that made Fallout went on to form Obsidian Entertainment, and Obsidian has a close working relationship with Bioware, but I have never heard anything about Bioware purchasing the Inteplay intellectual property.

Just a matter of 'when' I'd say.
Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...
