I know it is a long road to leveling.  I am level 6 and have been doing the quests and leveling.  I can't wait to get up there so I can use some of the higher spells and such.  I hope we get a good list going or maybe someone has a guide on where to find good hunting.

There aren't good and bad leveling monsters in this game but it dependes very much on your char. If you are full strength you also have good defense against physically attacking monsters and if you are full int you also have good defense against magically attacking monsters. So there are the level 8 lionlike stoneghosts and the level 8 magical tombstones and the trick is to take the right ones for leveling and killing some wrong ones only for the quest. If you don't really get it, nevermind, you'll get it with the magical black tigers and the physical white tigers before level 20.

The first time through for me was really difficult and I had a hard time getting to level 10, but now that I'm playing it the second time through I have more experience with the game it getting to level 10 is something done in a few hours.  As you play the game more, you'll figure out better ways to level and figure out which quests to do when, and eventually getting to level 10 will be no problem for you, but it does take a lot of grinding for the higher levels.

I found that leveling a second character is easyer than the first. Allways go pure to, either int or str.

It took me weeks to get my first char to lvl 20 but i leveled to lvl 17 in 4 days with my second. Might be because i got more money but i dont know.

So just train hard and you wil be past lvl 30 in no time (lvl 40 take ages).

fire/str/bow ftw!  its fast and effective.

I have tried a few different characters and my full str/fire/archer is the fastest leveling character I have.  I started him about 2 1/2 or 3 weeks ago and he is level 35 with a level 31 wolf.  If I didn't try leveling up my wolf I think I would be at maybe level 38-40.

Just do quests and eventually you'll level up.

Quests are usually just grinding, but with a added bonus.

At level 16 I recommend farming sp's with a SOS lvl 16 bow also.

I found the grind in SRO quite a nasty one,but I divide each quest into parts so when encountered with having to kill 200 things after level 15 (seriously, whoh!) I just killed 50 each time I logged on.

I've heard you have to kill 600 of something at level 20 quest. I haven't played SRO for a while so I'm stuck at level 19,but I find the grind isn't too bad because there is always something going on. Traders passing by fighting NPC thieves. Giant spawns being teamed on. Admittingly I've seen very little of the whole hunter/thief/trader PvP action.......yet. But the atmosphere around you when you grind is pretty good, but still it's a hell of a grind.

I'll have to persist a little more on levelling,me thinks. Only 1 level to PvP fun.

yea, u gotta kill 600 chakjis, and then another quest is to kill 500 earth ghosts and theres one at lv30 where u havta kill like 1000 flowers and u could do this more than once to get more exp its like 2000 total or maybe 3000 i dont remeber

Wow,a MMO with four-figure 'kill X' quests. Sounds like fun. The PvP had better be damn good at 20 then.

To level up you have to play a lot and kill a ton of monsters and do a ton of quests but its still fun

You can't really pvp efficiently as soon as you hit 20, as there is nothing preventing a level 70 from attacking you, which is a problem because there are usually several hunters and thieves running along the road.  Even a 1-star trade at that level by yourself is risky, seeing as the 1-star trick is still a common exploit.

    arghhh browser troubles ><

For those who are starting their SRO careers, I'd say FIND A GUILD. Yes, this is a game with a tough grind, but why do so many players stick around? It is VERY REWARDING. The graphics are beautiful, the skills are nice, and the high level interaction is very fun. But weeding out the mean people in the community can be a chore. So do yourself a favor and find a group that will help support you through your SRO lives :P

Do not worry about being PURE or not. Just play how you want (although having slightly more strength than intelligence can result in a very tough character to play). Most of the "flamers" in the community have already been proven wrong in their presumptions about builds and this game in general. Constant updates keep the game exciting, and if you stick with it, you will be hooked. Just remember, if you want to level fast, you must stick only to 2 skills (a weapon and a element). Because you can't afford the time to SP farm, you need to just keep your skills and your level close so you maximize your XP gain. As long as you don't try to learn every single skill in the game, you will be able to get to a high level relatively fast, and then you can farm and get skills then, while also enjoying the game at the same time.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to come on the Troy server and enquire away :)

first itdoesnt take 2 weeks to get to lvl 10, but you probably played in small bursts which is fine, second the point of mmorpgs is to take time to lvl not to rush through it, and when you get to lvl 18 or 19 thats when you should start complaining about taking a while to lvl up, thats when I stopped, but if your better than I and have more patience with silkroad specificaly(because I have yet to see somebody who has a higher level of patience than I do) than you could get to lvl 20 where you can choose your profession
