I was in Beta for this game a few months ago.....either they really improved this game since then or we're going to see a massive train wreck. To all those that pre-ordered I truly hope the best for you.

I was in beta a few months ago also and I have to agree with you there. Obviously they did improve the game but it's more a question of how much.
grenkal I would expand on my personal experience but everything I say is probably and hopefully very outdated.

WEll, the server has been down for a good month now and they have been working on day and probably alot at night. Server, if setup corretly, is able to hold aot of people without crashing.
Say why you didn't like that game then we current testers can chime in.

Interesting.
Care to expand any more on that?
Grenkal has a point, the release may lead to disappointments. I mean, RedBedlam will most likely meet all their promises and have most of the advertised features working ingame on release, but the overall low-budget execution (graphics, GUI, performance) will be hard to cope with for many.
I mean there are people on the RV forums saying 'I'm going to be a HOPLITE and ride a horse and command an army of 200 people and build huge cities will walls around them'
Then they get in game, run around barefoot with spears and clay mould-bucklers whilst wearing a tunic and building mudhuts....
Well i plan to give this game as fair a review as possible. Its made by a small company and is british so 2 pluses for it for me.
But if the game launches on friday i will give an inital review of the launched version on sunday which will include the interface, terrain, sound, graphics, gameplay, bug meter, char creation, inital quests, combat style, lag and such.
By 3 days i think it be unfair to discuss things like content which takes months to find out(like WoW taught us lol).

What ?! This isnt beta any more its the full game going live. It may improve over time and have extra bits added but its not like this is a temporary thing anymore, the excuse that the graphics are "turned off" is a joke.
Its like saying the NES had great graphics but they were turned off!
Originally posted by Virtus just remember that all the eye candy will not be in yet.
Huh? You mean after hearing over and over again how the graphics were getting redone for the final and they just looked that bad because it's a beta that it is going live that way?

Then Redbedlam lied.
They kept insisting that the graphics were turned down for beta.

What a crock, I called it back then and I call it now... The graphics are WYSWYG, and everyone now knows it... Why not just be honest from the start? Why not just declare you are making a graphically inferior game, but adding realism and content that will allow users to look past it? Hell, look at Runescape, that has bad graph-----oh wait that game is free... Makes ya think huh?
We always knew they were going to be, stop acting like this is some major discovery! Will they get better at launch and after? Most likly.
RB has said that a lot of content won't be in at release, and considering this is a small company, it's to be expected.
Just because people are hyped up about this game does not make it bad. Hell, if it did that would make every highly anticipated game terrible. People use their imaginations to fill in what they don't know about new games.

Oh shut up. RB DID declare it would not be a high quality graphic game. The whole point of this game is to make a quality title without using the Big Business model. And for the Record, the only way Runescape is remotely interesting is if you subscribe. Whereas you pay once for RV and never have to pay again.

You say that runescape is only "remotely interesting" if you pay, well i think the same goes for RV.
You can play both for free but its fairly limiting, in RV because you have to work for every single sesterce whereas other players will be paying in and have more money than you. I don't expect much other than mere existance to be possible without paying in occasionally i mean they have to pay for bandwith etc and one off payments at purchase are not going to keep them afloat.
I tested the game. I have played a lots of games, both MMOs and SP. RV's graphics are not excellent, far from it. Are they bad, tho? No, I don't think so. They are not flashy, lightning feasts - that much is true. Are they way more realistic than most of the games' out there? Hell yeah. The game itself is in a shade of greens of greys, which may be something that most gamers are not really used to.
However, I completely agree with the poster above. Give it some time - read the reviews. Don't buy the game before that. I am not trying to force you to convince you to, I want you to judge it yourself. After you read the reviews, meet ya in game
By the way, the only graphical feature that is turned off are the ground effects, because they are waiting for the next feature of SpeedGrass, or something along those lines. Don't quote me on that, though.
Jorev is right, they lied. They said countless ammounts of times that the graphics will be improved, and that ground effects will be turned on at release. They said the graphics were only like that for testing purposes.

Guild Wars has no fee. They seem to be doing pretty well.
There will be a cap on how much money you can but in at a time, so it won't be out of hand...
Plus most people won't want to spend hard earned real life money on a game. You'll find very few people willing to spend $100+ a month on a MMO.
Yes July 1st is for Pre-order only. The rest of us sorry saps will have to wait until the 14th.

I am still waiting to hear what the cap is. The game is about to release and still no limit has been announced.
You must be joking about people not wanting to spend money on MMOGs to gain an advantage. There is a thriving multimillion dollar business which proves you are wrong. Get ready to open up that wallet wide unless you are content falling behind everyone else who will be buying their villas and armies.

This game will have humble beginnings...
Well i liked the game ideas so pre ordered and was in beta.I was not impressed(to put it midly). And ater just 2 days could not bring myself to log in.
But that was a few months ago and hopefully they improved on the game since i pre ordered i will be trying the game out and then i will post a review.
It will be unfair on the game for me to review it now based on what i saw in beta months ago.
I have some time looking for a new fresh mmorpg, but i wont pay a dime until i see some good comments about this game
Dark Light made me learn, never give a cent without checking out reviews and stuff, yeah it may sound stupid but a lot of ppl felt for it,

Sorry this is live and ppl paid for it.If the graphics come out as a 2/10 i give it that in my review.
I doubt roma victor should not be reviewed based on graphics because i really doubt it been done much better then in beta but we will see!
It needs to rely on strong gameplay to win hearts.
