So...of course SOE is desperate to create a virtual killer application inside SWG to lure back some numbers.
And of course they really want to do the bare minimum to maintain and profit from it until release of SWG2.
And we shall not forget the release to PlayStation 3 (Which we could probably agree will be SWG2 2008)

BUT, they are forgetting everything important, ignoring it, or not getting it:
1. No one trusts SOE anymore with a MMO...they broke all the sacred "laws" of continuity of character.
2. The release of every single patch, publish or chapter has done very little to progress the game to stability.
3. Populations must be consistently twindling, after more and more hope is lost by each individual player.
4. They will make money keeping it alive until the release of SWG2 and save face, soon with classic servers!*

TIP FOR CURRENT PLAYERS: Make sure you are grouped while doing quests and that half your group is out doing the running while you keep re-upping the quests, then switch places. The quests they are touting today are easily bypassed granting all the rewards and experience along the way.
*If an emulator really makes light of day, and servers arise, classic servers will be introduced - Magically.
I will bet money on it. Emulators exist for a ton of MMOs, SWG is more complicated but feasible.
A ton of "trimmming" would need to be done to the SWG systems, but a basis could be hashed out.
