    What in the world does a GUILD MEAN? What does it mean to join or have a guild can any body please answer that for me? thanks.

    Not a problem. In MMORPG terms, a guild is a group of players who regularly chat and work together in a game for common cause.

    Most MMORPG's have support systems in place for guilds so they can have a guild-only ingame chat channel, and sometimes provide housing and inagme benefits through the game system.

    The terminology for guilds can differ between games as well. For example, Middle-Earth Online has "Fellowships" and EVE Online has "Corporations". They're really all just guilds though.

    Guilds are kinda like clans (like in CS or w/e). Most MMORPGs support officials guilds which brings extra guild features like having a guild-leader having guild quests etc etc etc...

    As Zap-Robo already said in some games they are called different from guild. In Lineage I & II it is Bloodpledge or just Pledge.
