Cooldevo, you repeat yourself too much. Please don't make a longwinded reply to this post where you repeat yourself again, but just please stop cluttering the thread by reiterating a point 3 or 4 times.

I have to violently disagree with you about needing to buff to do anything. You are right that the spells need to be active on the character, but casting them with the corresponding magic skill is not required with the use of arcane lore and loot. Level 7 spells are on loot, making it possible to have a 1 school character just as strong as a 3 or 4 school character. My main character who I have been playing since the beginning of the game has always been one school. He used to be stuck with level 6 buffs due to loot, but now he has all the 7s he needs.

I understand your perspective on goals for pvp, but I have a different one. The problem I have with most of the newer mmorpgs is that pvp death is without consequences. I'll use WoW as an example. If I killed a player in WoW, all he has to do is run back to his corpse as a ghost. That only takes 1 or 2 minutes of time. In AC, I am able to loot the most expensive items from the corpse... items that probably took many hours of hard playing to get. The point is not to control land, but to harm the ability of your enemies to play the game. In WoW, I am doing very little to interrupt the gameplay of my enemies. Some games, such as GW allow players to join groups to control things. I'm sure that's a fun way to pvp, but when I'm part of a large group, I feel like I am not accomplishing much personally. The group is doing something, and I'm just kind of along for the ride. In AC, the pvp is a lot about 1v1 battles. If I kill someone in AC, I get his valuable loot, and bragging rights.

Well if people would actually read and not take my points out of context I wouldn't have to keep repeating.  And if it's such a pain to read, why not tell the posters here to actually read my original posts and not make assumptions based on what I'm saying.  I don't like having to repeat myself either.  Which should be evident when I comment on having to repeat again.

Using items with magic in it is basically the same thing as buffing.  I just lumped the two together because whether it's a spell or a weapon/armor/etc, it's buffing your stats.  I'll rephrase my comment to be more fair.... without the use of magic (buffing, weapons/armor magic, etc.) in the game you can't really do much of anything.  That's one of the main things I didn't like.  If I created a pure UA (which I had) I had to buy magic weapons/armor to stand a chance.  And most of the good spells require high arcane, which I wouldn't want to spend points on as a pure meleer.  All I wanted was the choice to use magic or not, not be forced to use it because I have to.

I won't say I disagree with you about PvP.... there should be more of a risk of doing it.  That was what made PvP in AC fun.  But then again, how would that appeal to the kiddie gamers?  It most likely wouldn't.  Personally, I wouldn't be adverse to perma-death if it was done right.  Makes you think twice before running in just because you can.  And it may seem like that in GW, but it really isn't.  For one, it's generally a 6v6 battle.  If just one person in the battle doesn't hold up their end, the match is pretty much lost.  No one profession can win or lose a battle, and a team of 5 will NOT beat a comparable team of 6, and it's designed that way.  And they do have 1v1 combat too if you choose.  Every profession has their strengths and weaknesses, which balances the battles out.  If you do enjoy PvP, I'd give it a shot.... besides, you get into a good guild and win the PvP tournaments they have, and win the $100,000 prize pot for being the best.  They had one last year, and there is one currently going on this year.  And yes, it is REAL money (USD I believe), not in-game money.

Yes if you buy AC:ToD it is the complete game up-to-date july 06 version. You will have a moderate d/l of the 8 patch's since ToD's launch.

Striving to and surpassing Darkerknight's gimpness.
