Greetings,

TC is down for an update!

We'll have notes for you in a little bit!

Hey Kurt, how about some notes on why we were told that an ITV was only going to be available via the PURCAHSE of the Starter Kit, and now its given away for Y3... Or do you plan on ignoring this topic until Y4?

You were told that the ITV given with the Starter kit was only going to be available with the starter kit.  That is still true.   With the exception of the Eyewear that came with the special edition, every other "special" reward has an ingame equivalent.  The Barc is just another speeder, same with the Flash Speeder (except for the whole buy a replacement anytime anywhere for 20k thing which is useless).  The lava flea, the bunker, the Varactyl, and lava skiff all have ingame equivalents.  This is and was going to be no different.

Thanks very much for helping to answer the question IdigitalDale!

And really, this is a great community reward that lots of people asked for.  We think it's a great anniversary gift.  Many people are happy to have it and we're glad they are enjoying it.

Ever think of running for office Kurt, you dodge the issues real well!

How about looking back and seeing the many posts by myself and others asking for this to be a reward, and being told, BY YOU, that it will NOT be.

Try dodging that one!

AarunLightseeker, that was a while back.

At the time, it was said that the X-Wing/TIE fighter ITV would NOT be available and it won't be.

However, lots of people wanted an ITV, the opportunity came up to share a great gift that the community wanted, so it that's what we did.  We put in the Privateer shuttle which is very neat and useful, but not quite as spiffy as an X-Wing or TIE Fighter.

That's all.  No conspiracies.

Translation.  We knew all along that we'd end up offering one for free after 6 months, but we knew there were enough people out there lame enough to spend $20 on one, so we left that part out.

Actually I think the translation is more along the lines of:

"We were losing so many people we had to come up with a better reward and forgot we said that we wouldn't offer an ITV.  So to explain our way out of the knot we tied we had to split hairs by saying we weren't going to offer the X-wing or Tie fighter ITV so we wouldn't look like liars in print.

    It's even simpler.

We have nothing else to offer, so we rehashed yet another feature with 0 effort to give players a sense of added value.

SOEs double standards is nothing new... what I do wonder is who can be so dumb that they go buy the starter kit when you allready play the game to get a "special" feature when they know from the past everyone will get them for free in the end

EDIT: oh, and I agree on what Rekrul said a few posts up

Basically, they're making you pay a premium everytime they come out with some new item, so you can have it first.  Some people will spend the $20-30 on the game again in order to get the new vehicle/item/blah and after some months they'll release it for everyone.
Its almost like they're looking to see how much of the gaming population will buy items as opposed to not, given the opportunities.  I smell marketing research since we know in the past that Smedly has mentioned how the idea of buying items with real money is the next profitable step in the mmo market.

well, thats my conspiracy theory for the day.
