EQ 2 and all its expansions.. compilation set?

doLL66doLL66 Member Posts: 19

I am a ex- Everquest player and a current WoW gamer and was looking into trying EQ 2, however, I see there are 4 expansion packs currently.

I know Everquest had a 'Platinum' version you could buy that had all the expansions included.. is there something similar for EQ 2 or am I going to get suckored into not only buying the game and 4 expansions, but times that by 2 so my boyfriend can play?

Any input would be great!

Nope. there are currently 2 expansions and 3 adventure packs. if you buy any of the expansions in a store (not trough digital download) you will get the full game + the expansion. you have to buy the rest seperate. its the reason why I quit Everquest 2, its just too expensive to receive the full game.

You can pick up the Kingdom of Sky expansion at any store for $30 and it includes the original game.  Although the zones in KoS are for higher level players, many of the features are for people at any level, so it's worth getting that expansion right away.  Desert of Flames is its own product, and does not come bundled with the original EQ2.  However, that entire expansion is intended for people level 45-60 (original game level cap is 50, so it unlocks 10 additional levels), so it's not really worth getting until you reach a high level anyways.

There are currently 3 adventure packs.  The Bloodline Chronicles, The Splitpaw Saga, and The Fallen Dynasty.  If you get a station access pass ($24 a month, but you get access to ALL of SOE's games for one subscription that), the adventure packs are included.  However, if you do it that way and then later decide to cancel the station access pass and move to just subscribing to EQ2, you will lose the adventure packs.

The APs are cheap though, ranging from $5-$8, so they aren't huge investments.  Also, don't even bother buying the first one at all (The Bloodline Chronicles).  It's crap and not worth the money.  The other two are great.
