Well, I played eq2 since it was released and I hate the new crafting system. You can't make any money out of it anymore so why bother. But I love mmo's that have crafting. I have one of those jobs that when it's slow and nothing is going on boss doesn't care if i play mmo's. And that is when I do my crafting and harvesting.
So the hunt begins. Any ideas or advise on were to go next.

EVE Online has the best player-driven market.
Saga of Ryzoms crafting system is very complex and rewarding, harvesting is relaxing and enjoyable too. Totally player driven economy, and beside a few items on the starter isle, every item (jewels, guns, weapons, armour) is created by other players. Different terrains to harvest in and specialize in, thousands of items to craft, each unique. Crafting made up of combining component resources which can be dug or quartered from animals (fighters trade alot with crafters).
They have a free unlimited trial of the starter island www.ryzom.com
and yep, you can get very rich

Thanks for the ideas downloading clients right now. lol 've heard abour runescape don't think i'll give that one a try. lol I have a great computer with a good video card. So I'm downloading both eve and ryzom right now.
I love detailed crafting systems but I hate figuring out the game play.
ouch don't know how i did that one
double posted lol
First trying to make an account for (Saga of Ryzom) no luck couldn't even make one in the forums unless I want to pay for it. Well, not going to do that until I try it. So need some help with trying to make an account for the download to get the client key.

You don't need a client key and you don't need to enter credit card details. Just use the above URL. A forum account will also be automatically created.
Once you download, install, and patch the game, and create and log into a character, you will appear in front of an NPC named Chiang the Strong. Talk to him to learn a bit of lore and find out how you got to Silan, then turn left and go towards the side of the camp with some very technological-looking things (the Karavan section). Just before the Karavan there is a booth with an NPC named Sterga Hamla. Talk to him to start learning about crafting.
Finally, don't hesitate to ask questions in Universe or Region chat channels. The community is generally quite friendly and helpful. If you have any technical difficulties that prevent you from running the game, or if you have issues with disconnects, visit the Technical Support forum (<- link) or download the chat support tool Klients (<- link).

AO has a steep learning curve, but I'd say EVE's is even steeper.
Yes, but I personally think AO is a better game once you finally figure it out. I remember I played AO 3 times before I finally got hooked on it... stupid systems being so complex
Smithing is fairly profitable once your a Grandmaster+
There are levels like
(not in order, but Novice is the beggining, Legendary is end)
Novice
Aprrentice
Accomplished
Adept
Talented
Skilled

lol Np. Nice to get all shorts of differnent opinions. Never thought to give ao a try. Been stuck in Freeport to long.
Glad so many of these have free trials.
EVE-Online has a huge player driven market. And the market is not even fully utilized there are sections of space which have a severe lack of certain modules and ships and its easy to carve a niche and make a pretty nice profit, although if you go the trade route, it will be months before you will be able to get into a freighter which is currently the best ship to haul massive amounts of items around. You could start off as a manufacturer though. Ammo blueprints are cheap to buy, and produce the items, and they don't take up much cargohold to haul around. And players ALWAYS need ammo. My favorite EVE quote goes like this:
Arius Myxoma > man i just got that ship...
J3tt > i just got that ammo
J3tt > you don't see me complaining
Star Wars Galaxies has the best and most unique crafting out there, but its current crafting system and the rest of the game paints a pale picture compared to what it used to be. It is something you could try though.
