Firefox - I'm about to uninstall it

kimmarkimmar Member Posts: 446
I hate Microsoft just as much as the next guy, but I'm getting pretty fed up with Firefox lately as well.

There are two bugs that are about to make me pull out my hair.

One is when I press the apostrophe key.  Sometimes it brings up the search window down at the bottom left.  I try to get rid of it but it keeps popping back up until I restart Firefox.

The other is that sometimes I can't cut and paste.  It seems to happen to me about twice a day.  I'll be suring and want to cut and paste something into another window and I can't.  Firefox just ignores it.

I also have some problems when I leave it open and play games.  I do this sometimes to look up stuff and then Alt-Tab back and forth.  When I use Firefox it seems like my games run slower and stutter more.

Is anyone else having these problems too?  Does anyone else use a different browser?  I tried Opera, but it's just too gaudy in appearance.  Any others?

I thought Opera was just a clumsy version of FF. Hell, the new IE is almost as good as firefox.

no i found out about opera on this site in the thread called firefox myths, where they actually studied it and said firefox is a little better. but opera is actually the fastest browser.

it is defintely its own browser, and not a version of anything else.

I went and looked and it said that Maxthon is built onto Internet Explorer.  At least that's what it sounded like to me.

The reason I quit using IE was because of security concerns I heard about.  I use my browser a lot to do banking and other things where security is an issue for me (grocery shopping and other stuff).

Do you know if Maxthon has the security problems IE has?

    Thanks.

I have experienced that clip and paste problem too sometimes. It's quite irritating. If you really want to uninstall FF I would go for Opera. Never go back to IE, specially when you are concerned about security. Maxthon doesn't sound that good either. Often plugins like this create extra secuirty holes.

I would recommend, Opera besides FF.

    Firefox > Opera > IE

Many of the features Firefox and IE have are direct rips from Opera. Infact most of the "new" browser ideas come from Opera. In many ways Opera is the better browser, but to few sites support it That is why I use FF. And I do love many of the FF plugins.

But here is a funny thing:

    http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html

Take it with Opera and it works.
Take it with FF and it doesn't work.
Take it with IE and it doesn't work.

But yet it's the 2 that don't work that support the most websites. Funny.

I heard that aol has come out with a pretty good browser, i dont know if its better then internet explorer, firefox, or opera but suposedly its good maybe you can give that a try.

Im staying with firefox the only problem i have with it is sometimes an error window pops up that tells me firefox has encountered an error and says i can either debug or end the process, i just bring the window out of view and continue browsing without any problems.

microsoft left huge holes in all there OS's but IE is free its part of windows, i know some people prefur firefox and thats up to them but IE even in the shabby state it's in is better than any other web browser out there unless your using a mac.

Yes it should be. I haven't heard about any big security related problems. Fixes are out pretty quick too I think, if something is discovered.

It has great performance, doesn't crash and has some neat features. The only big trouble it has is that many sites don't work with it. Atleast that is my experience.
