Hello! I'm Sitius and i'm a rather unsatisfied MMORPGer whos been looking for the perfect MMO for quite some time now, practically nothing satisfied me until I stumbled across this gem. Im currently downloading the newbie island trial thingy. Anyways I have a few questions.
1. Is it point and click? or is it W,A,S,D controls? I'd prefer WASD I find it alot more comftorable setup.
2. Are the rates brutal like FFXI? Or steady and smooth like WoW?
3. What are the classes? And how does the class system work?
4. Hows the community? I'm sick of the typical moronic communities such as WoW and Guild wars, also is it social? my first MMO was Ragnarok Online and it thrived on socialization, since then i've looked for something similair.
5. What mounts are available? (Include a brief description of each one please)
Thank you guys for your time! I look forward to playing (Which will be tommorow morning, if I can sleep...)

1. Arrow keys or WASD.
2. Not sure what you mean by that.
3. Classless. There are four skills to begin with: Fight, Magic, Craft, and Harvest. Every character begins with these, but you have an option at character creation to "specialize" in one, which gives you an extra action or two to start with, or extra generic materials if you choose Craft. At level 21 they each split into branches, then again at 51, 101, 151, and 201. 250 is max level in each branch. But the thing is, you can learn EVERY skill - in theory you could attain all 11,000ish levels, although that would probably take a very long time and no one has done it yet. You don't have to give up skills to learn new ones. Balance is maintained by the fact that different armour types (light, medium, and heavy) have different "action malus" (more malus = higher cost to using actions) are suited to different skills. For example, you would usually use heavy, medium, or a mix of both for melee. Light for crafting and harvesting. Light, medium, or both for magic. Weapons also have malus, so it is not a good idea to, for example, cast spells while wearing heavy armour and carrying a sword. So basically you do one thing at a time, the exception being magic as it's very easy to switch between magic types (elemental, offensive/defensive affliction, healing) because the same equipment is ideal for all magic (light armour + magic amplifier).
4. Ryzom is renowned for its excellent community. Players are generally friendly, helpful, and mature.
5. There is only one mount, the "mektoub." It's like a cross between a horse and an elephant. See picture here. (<- link) Ryzom takes place on a living planet called Atys. Everything on Atys is alien - animals/monsters, races, items (nothing is made of metal because there's no metal on Atys aside from what the Karavan, a technological "higher power," have brought with them).
Anyway, welcome. I hope you enjoy Ryzom.

2 things:
Rates as in the leveling, experience gaining side of the game-- Are they slow? fast? or inbetween?
Also I plan on playing a Fyros character who uses a pistol, is this possible? if so, are there any negatives about this choice?
Thanks again!
Race makes no difference to what skills you can use or how well you can use them. Only problem is that there's no way to craft or buy ranged weapons in Silan.
And on the subject of racial differences, any race of character can also join any faction, although Fyros and Zorai start with -20 Karavan, +20 Kami fame, and Matis and Tryker start with +20 Karavan, -20 Kami. 30 fame with the desired faction is required to undergo the allegiance rite.
Any race can also learn any race's crafting plans. They need only visit the other races' crafter trainers on the mainland.
The amount of exp needed to "ding" increases slightly with each level. By level 200+, progression is very slow. But I've heard of people reaching 250 in a skill branch within a few months. It just depends on how much you want to "grind." My highest skill, for example, is only 230 because I do very little grinding. Some people say Ryzom is a grindfest, but I have NO idea what they're talking about - all they need is some self control! XD Anyway, there are also consumable "XP Catalysers" which double the exp gain. They are produced exclusively by outposts (although they will also be obtainable in Ryzom Ring scenarios), but I can give you as many as you need for free once/if you reach the mainland. My ingame name is Jelathnia (or my alt: Lineppey), by the way. If you need any help ingame feel free to contact me by typing /tell Jelathnia message (or /tell Lineppey message).

Do you dare to adapt?
I'am mostly known with the WASD control, but the only way i can use those in the game is if i change the keys my self right? because there is not a option somewhere where you can switch from the standar arrows steering to WASD steering?
What i mean is that i have to change it manualy?
Just hit k once you´re ingame and relocate your controlls to where you want them
No Problemo.

Just a clarification: Silan is the new player/free trial area.
Can this thread be made a sticky? Kat explains the most FAQs very well here
