But I got bored with WoW and looking for something totally different.
So I would like to give this game a try, but I got some, very newby, questions.
1. Whats the difference between City of Heroes and City of Villians, are they stand alone or is one game an add-on on another?
2. Is there any trial for this game?
3. Is there any good offer to find on the web regarding this game?
- Thanks,
Luxorr

One big thing to keep in mind is that the $14.99/mos USD fee covers BOTH games. If you have purchased both games you can play both for the single monthly fee. I will get back to you about the sale deal if I can find the thread again in a couple minutes.
EDIT: The best prices I am seeing right now are on eBay. The super deal discount for CoV that was listed ended last weekend. If you buy from eBay ( which I have done with software ) just make sure it's listed as sealed and brand new.
"What is it I have against Microsoft, you ask? Well, you know how you feel when you wait for an MMO to come out and when it does you feel like you've paid to play it's beta test for another 6-9 months before anything even thinks of working the way it should? Being a network engineer you feel that way about anything Microsoft puts out."
So as I'm completely new, i should buy CoV.
And I've just found out about this nice offer:
https://www.kable.com/pub/gmsc/subDomVillains.asp?src=QCVMMA
But unfortunately, it's USA only, and I'm from Europe.
Anyway, thanks again!
Here's a Fileplanet Trial if you wanna try before buying...
I'm currently downloading the game. Can't wait to start playing!
Ok, I've just downloaded and installed the client (that took a long time!) and made an account.
As I dont know ANYTHING about CoV, could you tell me what's a nice class to start with, or any good sites regarding this game?
Thnx,
- Luxorr
EDIT: How can I get new skills (powers)?
This has a lot of basic info about the game and its mechanics.
Also, go through the tutorial and read everything.
Brutes are probably the most straightfoward class...Just put up your shields and start smashing!
The others are great as well, but require a bit more thought...
When you level up, you go talk to an Arbiter and you'll get to choose either powers, or slots to enhance your powers.I bought it for 20 euros at the free record shop a few months ago. But if you don't have a creditcard you do have to buy a 2 month gamecard at the same time, which makes it around 45 euros again.
I got the DVD Collector's Edition of CoV at Circuit City for $29.00, probably down to $19 and some change by now, if you decide to play after the trial or you just want to be a super collector junkie like myself and just want to have all the little toys, bells, and whistles.
---I'm not trying to hurt you, I'm simply saving you from that hideous costume you're wearing.
I agree Brute prolly most straight forward class to play for first go around.
A couple of others are squishy = takes lots of damage fast. So wait until you get feel for the game.
Although at the early levels every class wins can play its tailored that way.
The break out of jail starting zone is not going to kill you unless you afk next to the prisoners escaping.
Hey Luxorr the game is alot of fun and one thing I would suggest is try diff variations of the classes, don't discount any of them, many have alot of fun powers.
The toon creation tool for CoX (CoH + CoV combo name btw) is just staggering. I can spend an hour making a toon easily. No other game even comes close in this aspect whatsoever I might add.
Expansions referred to as issues in CoX are free, there's been 7 so far.
There is a new retail add-on coming sometime around end of the year we're hearing. Sounds pretty big and exciting, sounds to be leaning to the high end crowd this time around (which is kinda overdue) not sure if this one is stand alone play like CoH and CoV are.
I think they mentioned for issue 8 there's new powersets and all kinds of stuff, not sure on details they're being kinda hush hush on it.
