im truly impressed nothin ever has caught my attention this much since my days back in UO as a Red lol good times, good time but as for the carebears who would rather bitch about this game about everyone killing each other, u might wanna step down and go back to playing ur weak ass carebear games like everquest and wow and duel in front of the cities where you belong.
Great. Outdoor PvP with high risk/reward. I'm already experiencing this in SB,and I'm not crying yet. (nor have I died, but I've been close to death once) And I can't wait to play another promising PvP game.
But it won't be all chaos. FFA PvP tends to start out experimental and anarchic (more likely),then groups develop (PK's,anti-PK's,guilds....) and thus some form of order is born. Although some people will remain anarchic (or form groups of similiar like-minded people), chances are you'll get some form of group PK warfare before long, mixed in with soloers and starter-outs. And the 'uber pro' loners.
People will aid newbies from getting PK'd. People will target newbies for PK's. People will PK the PK'ers because they were part of a guild they hate.
You either deal with it and group up/develop,or you leave the game. I bet though if someone guided you through DFO,and gave you good gear and PvP practice, you'd soon be hungry for the PK action.
You carebears only see the one-side; you getting ganked. You don't see; you ganking others.
If you havn't played a FFA PvP game (i.e AC1 or SB) and stuck with it for ATLEAST 6 months, then you can't talk about what will happen. There is no such thing as absolue chaos in these games, instead of having stupid concrete set relams and sides the players are able to draw their own battle lines. This leads to realistic and dynamic things such as betrayal and fence-hopping, which keeps everyone on their toes and the game interesting.

Good things come to those who wait. Like a promised Q4 2006 beta release date. No wonder they're taking their time; DFO will,if done correctly, make all other MMO's look a bit weak. They haven't exactly died off or anything, have they?
Hope to see you eating those words and promptly praying "Where was DFO years ago?" come the end of this year.
I understand fanboi's excitment, i really do and i hope you are right. i hope this game is good. It should be after a decade of development lol. Didn't they also promise a 2004 release date?

Woot,I finally get called a fanboi! (is that a good thing?)
I wouldn't know DFO's past at this time,as I am only just beginning to actually post in the official forums. I think they have,or are currently running (with no new people allowed in atm,I think) a closed beta that I think started early this year/late last year, and they haven't said contrary to the Q4 beta release date for 2006.
I do know that the updates on IGNVault keep a-coming,and they are still continuing to reveal more and more about the game. So something a very very good is about to be unleashed, hopefully.
The more I hear about DFO,the more I like what I hear. The beta will relieve a lot of patient players. Let's hope its this year.

If you need the analogy explained just gbtw instead :P FFA PvP has been proven to work. Reference examples UO, SB and Eve.

THIS GAME WILL ROCK.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
I have played all-out PvP MMORPG games before, so NO, Darkfall will not become an all out PK rampage.
