Servers are down...why?

Every MMO I have played had a website where the developers or whoever would let the community know why the servers were down. Whether that be regular scheduled maintnance or an emergency. I've searched the website and the account site and couldn't find a single post from someone who matters on why the servers have been down the MAJORITY of the day.
I just want to know why.

I don't play this game but here's a post on their front page that explains why yesterday's maintenance was moved to today and that it's a big one and will down for an extended time.

We thought we'd trained them properly. Pavlovian responses usually
work. You know: food = good, electroshock = bad. Apparently, the
gerbils took today to get us back for some of their, uhh...training. We
"told" them not run maintenance today! They had ideas of their own.
So,
we apologize for the small brains of the gerbils and we'll work on
better training. So, today's formerly scheduled, later unscheduled
maintenance wasn't intentional. Tomorrow's unscheduled maintenance is.
And it's a whopper so be prepared.
And for those who don't speak "Ophelea, up too early in the morning"...
Tomorrow is the official patch day this week and it's a big one. So, expect extended down time.

And maintenance is every Tuesday but it's usually rather short. BUT you can always find things on the launcher...

I've been with Horizons for a couple weeks now (1 week playing and the other watching the game and forums) and all I can say is it's worth a shot.
Some of us have encountered some difficulties when creating our account. Please email Ophelea if that happens and she will take care of it for you. She does a good job. The game itself has the old school feel, which I like. If you starting playing after 2002, then you probably don't know what I'm talking about. The game feels like it is rich in story. Like there is a purpose to the gameplay. I enjoy that. The newer games, without pointing fingers, lack a unifying story most of the time and concentrate more on the lenth of the grind and the PvP aspects.
Anyways, good luck. I hope to see you in game. I'm on Order (RP server).

I started up last night and realy enjoyed the tutorial
I played at release for a month and I remember the start up being... well... let's say... not as good as the new one
I'm on Chaos, but I will probably roll up a character on Order as well
