FFXI does not have high hardware requirements (it is four years old, after all, and was not known as a box-buster even when it was new). You may come up short in the video department; FFXI requires "Transform and Lighting" (TnL) hardware. Check you video hardware; if you have ATI or nVidia hardware, you're probably OK. If you have Intel integrated graphics, you're SOL. I know less about WoW's hardware requirements, I'm not sure if WoW requires this as well.

I have a laptop with a Intel graphics card, and FFXI runs fine (as well as WoW).

Well, actually, now that I think of it, it's easy enough to check. You can get a benchmark program for free on FFXI's official website. If you comp runs the benchmark, it'll run FFXI. The benchmark figures will also give you some idea as to how well your laptop will run FFXI.
