Fair enough, asking the question here will get an answer you would not
get on the "Official" forums. It is called the truth. Short answer,
this game really is that bad. If you can use $100 bills for toilet
paper then, yeah go ahead ... actually no wait, if you are that rich,
get your own MMORPG, there is little chance you could do worse if you
hire people who have actually had a programming class or two.
Friends don't let friends play DnL.

I'll agree with that comparison because pirates are inherently cool, while DnL's floppy, powder wig wearing dandies aren't. Welcome to the Cove.

I laughed, I cried, I stoped considering D&L around January after I realized how the industry was going to treat us for most of this year... D&DO: I don't really need to say anything more... I just can't F*&^%$^ belive the craptastic games they want us to play.
Well I haven't played DnL,and I don't intend to but....
When a reputed website for MMO's and its forum on DnL are mostly negative comments and sarcastic jibes at the game,you kinda get the feeling something aint right with DnL. Combined with the seemingly fact that the forums asked for aid 'against the MMORPG.com' criticism, and well.......it reeks of desparation.
On the plus side,DnL provides 'comedic gold' for many people here,so I guess Farlan could always start a comedy club MMO whenever DnL calls it a day. Or goes Free to Play. I hoping for the F2P to be initiated sometime around August.
Still,I would look on both the DnL forums and several other MMO websites (fan sites of DnL) to gather a more rounded opinion. Although I gather even the DnL forums are mostly full of criticisms about the game.
So yes,it is THAT BAD. Infamously bad,hmmmm?

C'mon blacksac, you know as well as I do that anyone that detracts from the game at the official site gets the thread locked, their account banned and a stern whipping by the mods once the offender is unable to defend him/herself.
The DnL forum is slowly being whiddled down into people who blindly follow the game and those who moderate the site. Anyone with a real opinion has either left of been banned, or is using subtle sarcasm to outwit the mods.
At least here we are free to speak our minds. And besides, you never get the true answer from the right or the left, the truth always lies somewhere in the middle.
So, the fanbois say, wow, this game sucks but it has potential. And the hatebois say, wow this game sucks and the devs should be flogged.
So, add those two up, take the average and decide for yourself.
Don't hold anything back, Drachonis, tell us what you really think.
While many of the games released recently haven't been your, or my, cup of tea, you must admit that the production quality of MMORPG's in general has improved. It makes the horrible release of DnL stand out all the more starkly against the recent, relatively smooth launches of games like Auto Assult and DDO.
Adding those up we get: This game sucks, and one potential solution is flogging the devs.

Man I come from SWG; posting something like this in the official SWG forums sure it would be locked or banned;

Nah, all mods of all games won't delete your thread just beacause you critique the game. Just the mods who know you're right and want to keep money coming in to their employers(devs)
The only reason that you would want to pay the 55$ of the game would be to be a part of the MMORPGs story, being one of the few who bought the worst game, worst released and with the most potential you will ever see.
The ppl who paid for it are making history, DnL is already a classic! (in an horrible way)

As for DnL the game is playable and you can have lots of fun in it but its far from release that you would expect at 2006, quite few annoying bugs, not to mention 2 roll backs where they lost like half community.
Now free months period is over in in next few weeks we will see how many player base left.
Curently I still recruit around 3 to 5 complete newbs/per week in guild.
I can tell you what happend to my guild:
We have 300 members (with around 70-80 alts), in free months period we usualy had like 30 to 40 guild members always online and 60 to 80 at peak hours.
Now free months period is over and now we have around 50 active players ( others put it on hold .. and wont pay monthly subscibsion until there are same improvements )
Majority of players that stayed at DnL are 30 plus years old .. all youngester left ages ago.
( same in my guild, mostly 30 40 50 years old member stil play and some 25 plus, a lot of husband/wife )
Personaly I have a feeling that even if they make major impovements soon it will take ages to gather good player base ... and that can/will kill it.

Reality check:
This game is THAT bad. Any compitent guild leader wouldn't take/move his guild to such a lousy game.
I have repeatedly said (as far back as January) that Dark & Light will flop misearbly. The game does not have the means to excite or keep players past a 3-4 month peroid. BUT... since the game is NOT playable, it has horrible support and absolutly NOBODY is playing this turd, it will die sooner than later.
Why even bother spending time on your character/guild when this game will not be around in 2 months..? Waste of time and money. That = Ignorant
The only way this game will see October is if they offer 14 day free-trials and a bunch of newbies actually buy the game afterwards... thats the ONLY life support for this game thats left to keep it breathing.
If you do not beleive me, wait till the middle of August and see what fixes (if any) are in game... and how many people actually stayed around to see those fixes. My guess it this game will be on it's death bed with 300-400 people subscribig to it...!
Vuuar and his 3 close buddies are PETHETIC and should've canceled this game when they started stealing code.
