Ahhh Im a fence rider but I think DAoC does some things better than Shadowbane and vice versa. I'll give the edge to Shadowbane for cahones and going all out pvp all the time.

whats better? 1997-1999 Ultima Online. Eh.. or not. I played UO for quite a long time and SB even longer. Just my opinion, but really UO just cannot supply the fun that can be had in SB.
hack (hak) n., A clever solution to an interesting problem.

Could be...that was before I entered the mmorpg genre. But the whole city building and nation vs nation fighting? Was that part of Ultima Online in those days? I don't think so.
comparing UO PvP in its day vs SB PvP isn't a fair comparision. UO deserves top honors for what it did for PvP in the beginning, SB does also for taking it to the next level, even with all the problems... If wolfpack hadn't taken the leap, who would have? thats right- nobody.

Not dishing shadowbane guys, I wish it would have done better than it did. It just never seemed like a finished product and lost alot of players who had high hopes for it because of this. The promise was there, but the players to make it happen wasnt.
Ultima Online had custom houses, neighborhoods. And fighting was just as brutal if not more brutal than shadowbane. When you died in Ultima Online back then you got everything looted from you except your underwear .
The anti vs dread lord days where some of the best days in pvp,. After that it went to Guilds., which still proved to be alot of fun. As for nation vs nation, they introduced factions after I left but it would probably have been somewhat similiar to that. But basically after the founder Garriot left the game UO went to the crapper.
Easily the best PvP game out there, and it has made some sacrifices to be this way. All of you out there in other games can think whatever you want, but those of us who play Shadowbane truely understand PvP and siege warfare.
All the other games out have RESTRICTED pvp. How can they have a better player vs player enviroment? Its all about leveling, questing, making Thor happy, without alot of PvP....
Shadowbane makes these other games look like kids games, and guess what, thats where the kids are!

The current king has to be SB for pvp. Just look at how many times the same diehards have quit only to return later. There simply isn't anything out there like it.
I can't get past the fact that it still felt like early beta for so long time after the launch. Lack of content, weird balance and generally unpolished. It's a shame really.

Look, the people who insult SB are the ones who couldn't hack getting killed when they were lvl 23 and are here crying about it.
Any other game is carebear and I have played them all.
UO is closest runner up.

There is no best "pvp".
I think there are alot of great pvp based mmo's that each added there own style.
Some of them I liked, DAOC, Shadowbane and WoW.
Some of them I didnt but I still respect ie Asherons Call, and anarchy online.
To call one BEST is just a matter of opinion and taste. There is no Championship Game of MMO's.
