The addition of the ability to stay in the BG's forever has taken large numbers of what I consider "lazy" players out of the end game as well.
Blame that more on the fact that right off the bat, WoW's absurdly stupid honor system just rewarded those who farmed honor other than actually participating in battles along with the danger of declining in rank, creating such a ridiculous PvP system in WoW.
Instance battle zones are only one part of WAR, especially when looking at the contested areas, random skirmish battles in Non-Instance zones are also part of the battling to control the zones. Just looking at one part of the instancing PvP in WAR would actually punish a side since battling for control in a zone is accomplished by several other means.
The Honor System is WoWs biggest killer, even with their 1.12 patch that will have Objective Based World PvP, it's not going to be popular unless they redo the Honor System.
The game doesn't allow you to take a break for even 1 day without the risk of either losing rank, or not ranking at all. Then those who go on holiday (that's everyone, right!?) will definately lose rank, and imo, that kind of pressure on gamers should be illegal, as it's absolutely ridiculous to even think that the average person can keep up with those with no jobs, no lives, and all the free time in the world...and that's who you're competing against on any Server.
I'll be playing WAR just because they won't (or at least i think they won't) have that kind of system, even if i think EA will kill the game when they've done with Mythic making them money.
While I'll agree. They may look similiar. WAR clearly has better graphics. Well, atleast in my opinion.
Thats a great set of comparative images - nice find (or work if you made them )

It was only running one quest but it gave me a small taste of the combat and for an alpha build of the game it was pretty fun and quite amazing what they've already accomplished with the game.
Actually there were MANY quests available in the demo we showed at Origins...

Well looking at this i cant really see where the similarities starts beside the races (that were definitely ripped off Warhammer), even the "feeling" of the characters ppl talk about earlier in this post is completly diferent, the WAR characters dont look "cartoony" they look a lot more "real" and solid.
WAR is 100 times better than WoW for many reasons:
1- the "END" game is actually PVP
2- it's not gear oriented, or i hope it's not.
3- it's made by mythic and is based on the legacy or warhammer, something that alot of people have been fans of since the 80s.
4- real-looking graphics, not that it matters.
5- the PVP engine is based on DAOC's, or as mythic says.
6- i'm not buying WAR, nor i will play WoW ever again.
7- because both mythic and blizzard suck so much, the only thing they care about is their own opinion, and the opinion of those who whine the most.
8- mythic has showed me one thing, so did blizzard, which is #9
9- their ability and power to nerf classes and make them either way overpowered or unplayable, and ruin the great games they make, which results in people quitting and people whining and people crying.
10- expansion packs sucks, free expansions FTW.
11- this is only my opinion, it is not hate, it is only my theory.

I have been a fan of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay since it 1st came out in 1986 and if you see the artwork in the sourcebooks you will see that Mythic have got their artwork bang on.
It will become more apparent when more of the game gets seen that the Warhammer universe is a lot darker and grittier than many other universes. If you have seen the artwork from Realm Of Chaos you lmopw that you will never see anything like that in the clean cut WoW universe. (probably won't see in WAR mind you if it wants to keep it's Teen rating but you know that behind closed doors in the warhammer world there could be agents of chaos with 10 breasts.)
Also Warhammer being created by Games Workshop in the UK feels so much different to all the US universes that were out there at the same time. That could be a factor when Blizzard "borrowed" certain bits of it to create the warcraft universe, as a lot of US gamers weren't actually aware of Warhammer's existance in the 1990's and the ones that were, were playing battletop minatures and paper roleplaying games rather than computer games.
I too love the roleplay game, have done since it came out too, but as I understand it they are basing the MMO more on battle, which while similar isn't anywhere as gritty - oddly...

I'm not ashamed to admit I liked WoW. I played it from Beta until a few months ago. It's now the second longest MMORPG experince I have had (Anarchy Online still edges it out barely), though I have played or tested many of the major releases over the past few years.
I think Blizzard had a great launch and enough content to buy them time for an expansion, then they completely dropped the ball. If Burning Crusade comes out Q4 this year, it will be a year too late and from what I have seen about announced content, it will only be half of what it needed to be!
There is a point here, I actually wouldn't mind seeing a GOOD WoW clone that duplicated what WoW got right, fixed what went wrong and was published by a company willing and able to provide expansion at a reasonable rate.
So, calling something a WoW clone is not reason to worry in my book, as long as the developers know how to take that foundation and make it shine. Blizzard had a diamond in the rough and instead of giving it the proper cut and polish to be spectacular, they ground it into diamond dust for drill bits and saw blades!
For the most part I agree, the reason I think people hate WoW so much is because they loved it to begin with, then they maxed too quick had issues getting to PvP and became bored All of a sudden their favourite game became their most hated enemy - sort of ex-wife syndrome

I mean, I know the game is not literally a remake, but the graphics, the UI, the spell effects, the mobs...it just screams WOW. I would kill for a DAOC 2 personally. IMO DAOC is by far the best fantasy MMO ever made and possibly the best MMO period thanks to it's innovative RvR system, it's brilliant class selection and variation and it's general atmosphere. Even PvE is superior to the competition in DAOC. There is literally nothing that I liked about WOW and I am seeing not only an extreme similarity visually but also seemingly in overall concept. The added disgrace of adding instanced PvP and giving the real RvR system a status downgrade is leaving me with a rotten taste in my mouth. I hope they will tell me or show me something to inspire the gaming monster in me because WAR is currently not even on my TRY IT list. =/Mythic? Where are you going?
Have you actually played the tabletop miniature game when you make that judgement? If you haven't then yes it's going to be just another fantasy mmo to you.

They do have different classes (well, Races), and they're really hard to balance out imo... Some Races use EW (like Target Jamming) others do well in Shield/Armor Tanking, some have their damage boosted, some have better drone abilities and so on.
There's a lot of complaining -atm- that the Amarr Race is really lacking in PvP, being Amarr myself i don't see this problem, the only problem i see is that EW is unbalancing Races that weren't suppose to really use EW (NOS-EW-Tanking-Drone Dominix) and makes PvP a little boring when you fight them.
