Well, if you look at the water, for example, it looks awesome. The scenery can be pretty good... And then you look at the characters, as someone else said, they look like they're made of Play-Doh. It just doesn't fit together. I'm sure others may think it looks alright, or even like it... But it just doesn't look right to me.
Of course, that wouldn't stop me from playing it if I enjoyed the gameplay. Graphics are pretty low on the list.. But this is a topic about the screenshots, so I feel free to be critical about it.

No, you should feel free. That's not what I was saying. It's just confusing to me why everyone says stuff about the EQII character models. When I look at them I see smoothly rendered characters. Maybe that's where everyone is getting the whole plastic or gumby thing from, but to me it's just that they were rendered smoother than any other textures in any other game. And to me it's the closest any game has gotten to some of the 3d movies that are out.
See what I mean. Do they look plastic? I mean, they do just as much as the EQ2 characters. It's just the higher rendered models is all. I like them. The look better to me than some of the boxy characters from other games.
The characters in your picture from The Incredibles are very different from the EQ2 models. The Incredibles characters are highly stylized. Look at the shapes of their faces and their bodies, their expressions and their body language. While they do look a little plastic like as far as their textures go, they still look very alive and *expressive*, which is the key.
The EQ2 characters, in spite of the lighting, self shadowing, bump mapping, etc... still lack any life because of the models themselves.
If you like EQ2s graphics the best, that's your opinion of course and nothing wrong with that.. I just strongly disagree
