    Excellent stuff indeed, I especiallyt liked the first TKM animation that was cool. If they kept them all in as animations, the NGE would have looked even worse than it did

    Back in pre-cu a TKM v Pikeman was a thing of beauty to watch, now it's just plain depressing

    scatter hit FTW!!!

    slowing the combat down recently, and NOT adding the animations back in, is perhaps the most amateurish thing ive seen from the devs in quite a while.  fukking incompetent fools.

    I do not even want to think about all the ones that were taken out.

    Jedi pre-9 had some sweet ones.    At one time and I know this is going to sound odd... But when we threw the saber it would fly around and hit multiple targets when you did the area throw.   It was weird and you had to watch it close.   I think there is some videos out there for it.

    The way we stood and used a saber looked and felt soo much better and smooth.  It was more SIM feeling vs Benny Hillish.

    I am glad I took some fraps of force run, across Endor and other things.  Alot of screen shots -- but they make you sad and mad all at the same time.

    So that you know there was ALSO a summersault move where you actually flipped that they never used but if you glitched at times you could do it,  not to mention that at one time shortly after pub 9 -- THERE was a animation for CHOKE that did raise you off the ground and you held your throat. it looked cool but never went live but sometimes was known to bug out.

    The Jedi Cartwheel move never made it to live from Beta of pub 9 -- they added that, only a few got to see that as well.

    I tell ya, I was in all of the betas even the pre-9 Jedi and all of the Jedi betas as well, they did NOT use alot of very cool concepts.

    I still think risk vs reward could have worked, if they had kept the rules of pre-9 in place then you would not have seen so many Jedi running around.    Skill loss and perma-death sure made you think twice.

    OH YA -- man there was alot of Fencer moves as well that were taken out from beta too.

    Crap there was so many for all the classes lol.

    Currently there is a mod that opens up the animations in the tre files.  Technically 'illegal' I think but, who sees my screen other than me?

    I find it hilarious that they spent the time and cash to do Live Action Studio Animations and they don't even use them...

    Oh, and for those of us who were around from Beta, if you remember, the original plan was to have weapon slots and your weapons would be shown on you holstered... then they decided to rush the game out and scraped a ton of things...

    I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    I still think smuggler with Artisan in it was a good idea lol.  In a way lol...

    Oh, and there are also Duel Wield Animations as well... they fit Pistols & One-Handed... something else there since Beta... Duel Wielding, /sigh... something else talked about in Beta...

    I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

They couldn't be unholstered or assigned to a hand or anything but it was a start. Everyone freaked, we all loved it.

    Next day it was taken out and we were all told it was comming in full time, the first shot was just a test for the client side animations. Never to be seen or heard from again.

    Do you guys realize that there is very few left that know about this?

    It sucks seeing this end up like this, it brings back such amazment and wonder when we started out.

    Corpse runs actually had purpose but crap, look at how this is now..  No wait on anything... nothing, no planning needed, no effort, crap you just click and run without worry or haste.

    The more I see why the playerbase seperated is due to the SIM side of things alot of us older people liked I think.   WE LIKED the SIM and time side of things (Sure we moaned at times and bitched) but this was part of the big giant circle and timesink in the game.. you had to learn before you tried somthing.

    Now you just try somthing with no worry of loss or even time.   This is where they thought the NGE would be the great success it was meant to be.   As Nancy said:  "Kill, loot rinse repeat".. because you know, there was much to much reading in the game ......

    Man I just want to make her play SWG right now for 48 hours straight as punishment.

    Chucky = Shrubster . My bad on the clairfication. And yup honestly, I can't remember ever having such a good time in a beta test as I did then. Maybe it was an age, place and time thing... who knows. But they certainly seemed to be on a track for golden times and an mmo that would have stirred the gaming world for years and years.

    Other Goodies from Beta/Launch:

    • Originally, they were working on a system to attach up to 2 Cargo Pockets to a Belt &/or Bandoliers, as well as a PSG in one of those "Slots", and 2 on a backpack. All could hold 10 items, with your BP holding 20... then it scraped, and BP's increased to meet the early launch. Oh, and your personal inventory used ot only be 50 items, then 60, then 80.
    • There were orginally weight limits on players, based on your species and stats.
    • Sockets were not intended for "Attachments" originally, but actually were supposed to allow "Enhancers"... think like a Helmet with one socket being able to be fitted with a Rebreather or a target enhancer.
    • Weapons were supposed to be "Slotted", so you had to equip a wep into a slot in order to use it. The only places you were supposed to be able to do it were houses, cantinas and hotels, so you could carry more weps, but could only use the ones equiped.
    • Weaponsmith was originally Melee Weaponsmith & Ranged Weaponsmith.
    • Farm & Miner were going to be professions, as well as Mechanic (for vehicals, but was cancelled since vehicals were WAY off...).
    • The core of JTL was designed for lauch with SWG, but when they forced it out it was canceled. Side Note: Orginally, to travel in ships you had to launch into space and Hyperspace there, in order to keep the Galaxy "Big". Second Side Note: Orginally, the Pilot Trees were going to be Light, Medium, Heavy & POB, with Faction rank giving you access to certian Faction Ships.
    • Duel Wielding Mechanics were/are in the game, but were never finished when the game was forced out early.
    • Armor was Originally intended to NEVER exceed 50% Mitigation, and was supposed to have penalties on your Abilities while wearing it (for balance with non-armor wearers).
    • Hostering weapons was not only designed into the game, but there was also a dev Video released (and I'd love to find it if it's still out there) that featured someone running with a Pike on their back, Hostered.
    • Creature Handler was never intended to Handle Creatures over a Certian Level, in order to keep it balanced.
    • Combat Medic were not intended to have Poisons originally, because they were considered to be too imbalancing.
    • Roads for Vehicals were added to Beta on certian planets, then removed. The idea was that eventually vehicals could only travel on roads, and you would need a mount to go "off-road". Once in a while, tou'll see a "Sign" next to what looks like a path in the middle of nowhere, they lined them.
    • Originally, to store your Vehical you had to drive it up to a Garage, and the Garage "swallowed" it after to dismounted, and it was stored. It stayed in that garage until you came back. The original concept was to have a garage next to all SP's that you would have to put you bike in in order for it to travel with you.
    • There are DOZENS of more mounts than are in the game, including Spiders. Those that remember the NS invasions may remember the giant Spider with the NS Queen Riding it.
    • Some large creatures were going to be Multiplayed mounts, that was scraped.
    • The first Alternate Idea for Corpse Runs was to have an option on Insurance Terminals that said "Recover Gear" with a fee. When they decided that it didn't make sense for local Imp to recover a Reb's gear, they added Cloning Decay.
    • Oh, and Weapons themselves were supposed to have slots for things like scopes, barrels, etc... these were intended to customize your weps, and were going to have negatives & postive effects. This was dropped when they launched early.
    • Faction Armor & Uniforms were Orginally going to be awarded / purchasable based on your Faction Rank.
    • There are Ranks in the game higher than Col, but they were never activated. There used to be a couple of Generals, and even an Admiral on TC.
    • The ITV comes from an ability you could buy at high rank call Call for Pickup that was never activated. It called doen a Shuttle to Pick you up and take you to the nearest SP.
    • There are TRE. files for Dark Trooper & Storm Commando Armor, as well as dozens of other armor sets that have never been added to the game for some reason.
    • Before Mando was added to the game, a dev said that they were working on 3 versions of Mando Armor at one of the FF's. They were Light-Boba fett's, Medium-Jango Fett's (what we got) & heavy-Like the Imp Mando now.
    • There are actually fully designed Star Destroy interior textures. After the Corvette, they were going to do a SD Instance also. This was bumped back to JTL so they could be boarded, then bumped back again due to time constraints, then shown at FF a year ago...
    • AT-PT's were digned, but not added since they were classified as "mounts" and there for the animation showed you ridding them like a mount, lol.
    • Restuss was not the first Battlefield. There are Giant Rings of Faction Scanner Towers on all the planets that were once TEF Battlefields, and not only did they work, they were a blast.
    • Original Jedi's who got to the highest Level got to meet Yoda, and got a badge that said "Has been to the Moon of Dagobah"
    • Dev's used to dress up like Vader or Fett, and attack cities or chase players... Original Jedi were actually hunted by Fett himself.
    • For you NGE'er: There used to be a Giant Spider you could kill that gave you a badge. He was on Dath, but since the NGE he hasn't spawned.
    • Jabba's Barge skin is also in the TRE. files, as well as atmospheric Star Destroyers.
    • There are Actually ENTIRE PLANETS that are in TRE. files that have not been added. Tanaab
    • Gear for Hoth in is the TRE.files, but why?
    • There are additional Ships & even Quests that exist, but were never activated.
    • There are additional Species speced that have never been added.
    • I'll keep adding to this as they come to me, there are SO many things...

    Stardestroyer.pob is present in the .tre files.

    I have not seen the file for Jaba's BArge, could you post the location of the .tre file it's located in or a link to download the file?

    You do see NPC's wearing Dark Trooper armour.  There are a bunch near where Xos spawns, and the NPC at the bottom of the Restuss Imp base is wearing all but the helmet.

    Sorry, I don't know the location, I just watch the Vid's. I asked a good friend (he has found a few things) and he can't remember the name either. What he does remember was that it wasn't called Jabba's or Barge... it had a Strange name. There is a Vid of it out there, somewhere...

    There are Dark Troopers in game that spawn from time to time. I have 3 DT Pet's as well. However:

    • Those are Imperial Iquisitor Armors, not DT, and they are DAMN cool.
    • That's colored Imperial Assault Armor with an additional shoulder pad.

    Can you take a pic of this one, or know of a site with pics? I've never seen his skin, I've only seen the badge.

    What pirrg is saying by linking that video is pre-cu combat was just as shitty as it is now. At least now in the NGE they have stances/animations right. 80% of that video he linked they are attacking while laying on teh ground and kneeling, it was stupid.

    I don't agree that animations are 'right' in NGE.  Unless you are only referring to the whole "cannot knockdown revover while knocked down" type bugs that happened in CU, and the attack while kneeling / KD'd etc in pre-CU.

    Btw, those vids I posted are not standard nge animations.  Maybe I will post a vid of what they "really" look like if I can find one.

    There are Dark Troopers in game that spawn from time to time. I have 3 DT Pet's as well. However:

    • Those are Imperial Iquisitor Armors, not DT, and they are DAMN cool.
    • That's colored Imperial Assault Armor with an additional shoulder pad.

    Hmm, are you sure they aren't Dark Troopers?  Have a look at this Starwars.com page and then this screenshot.
