    Koster is a designer, not a manager, director or CxO.

    He cannot, could not, would not take an executive position of this type. Period.

    You do not put Einstein in charge as CEO of Boeing, just because he's good at physics, and aerodynamics are physics.

    This is management position, which has and must never have, anything to do with actual products. Any attempt to put anyone with engineering expertise into management ends badly if you're lucky, or with a complete disaster if you're unlucky.

    His last Title Was "VP of Operations"... that's not a design Postition. Now, I'm not speaking to his Management skills, maybe he's good or bad, but Smed wasn't "Management" at one point either.

    Regardless, once you are a VP you are a Manager. There are NO VP's in the world who are not. Does it make him a good one? No idea, but judging him based on his previous comments, he's got the Corp speak down pat...

    I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    Same here... They would have to give him COMPLETE control for him to even consider it, and Corps don't tend to do that. That said, money & ego can make a man do STRANGE things /pointsAtSelf. It happens...

    if it was a press release, then it should have linked to something outside of the forum.  Do you have that link at least?  While I would love to believe you, I am starting to see that lack of anything substantive as troubling.

    Ive been telling you guys for weeks that Smedley's firing is on the horizion, if these current rumors arent true then it will happen by the end of this year. At the Sony Shareholders Meeting, Sony stated they are in the middle of gutting out and replacing all the upper management of every single division that is not posting profits. And that means EVERY SINGLE division/branch of Sony except Camcorders and Movies. SoE is one of those divisions.

    I would have thought you guys had learned by now to not believe SOE when they deny a rumor.  More often than not, that usually increases the likelyhood that it is true.
    However, I doubt Raph Koster would take that position.  That part is a little too reaching to make it believable.  While it may be possible that he could eventually take it, I doubt that would be announced simultaneously with Smed's canning.
    If Smed does finally get fired, I'm having a party.

    Umm yea...we do. Sony said at the shareholders meeting only Camcorders and Movies are making profits.

    Only thing I can say is that the share price went up around it's opening price after rumors started. There's a good headline "Sony price up amongst rumors of staffing change." Oh oh.
