Hey what's up,
I need some help finding a new game. I've tried tons of games lately but I don't like them as much as I did Shadowbane.
I want a pvp oriented game where I can kill anyone, anywhere at anytime. I hate this designated pvp area crap. I want to be able to surprise people that are out trying to gain EXP or Gold and kill them and ruin their hard work. Basically I want to to find a game where carebears can't hide in a neutral zone. I want a game where there is something at stake! I've tried Dark and Light, DAoC, Guild Wars and some others. They were all shit!!! Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent PVP rpg game?
I'm waiting for DarkFall and WarHammer but I was wondering if there is anything out there that I can play sooner.
Thanks

I'm assuming you enjoy the fantasy genre so I will recommend Everquest II pvp servers. I hate to say this but SOE has done a fantastic job with the servers and the pvp aspects of the game. You can pvp anywhere if you want to although it's unwise to do it in a city, but it can be done. There is also item and money drops when you kill someone else.
I highly recommend it and if you like pvp I am sure you will enjoy it. Other than when I pvp'd in UO I'd have to say that I have had the most fun pvp'ing in EQ2. Every game has their flaws, but EQ2 pvp is pretty good. Those that have played on the pvp server Nagafen would probably agree with me.
Stick with Shadowbane, only reason im saying this is cuz I don;t want you in any other game
That being said, people like you are the ones that ruin open pvp games.

Actually,
I'm after a game that is very realistic. The problem with pvp in designated areas is that if someone goes to fight willingly they have nothing to lose. For example, they won't go out with a full inventory of stuff so after I kill them there is no reward. It's way more fun to kill someone, take their shit and have them hate me forever for the incident. In a pvp game I'm not out to make friends!!!

I'd go with either Everquest 2 or Lineage 2 bro. I haven't played Lineage 2 yet but I rather enjoyed the pvp in EQ2 on their pvp servers like the server Nagafen. You can kill people anywhere and it's very fun.
Give it a try.

Try EVE-Online then, the pvp is completely open and the death penalty is very harsh.

This is exactly what i said in the first place. What you're looking for is not a game where actual PVP occurs, you want a game where you can gank people and ruin there day. This is NOT pvp, nor would a true pvper enjoy it.
There is no skill involved in killing some person 10 levels below you who was busy mining. If you actually wanted to pvp, you know fight people who fight back, then you wouldn't mind designated pvp areas. In said pvp areas people are aware of certain dangers and are prepared to fight for their right to be there, and if a game is set up well these areas have benefits to going into them which quantifies taking the risk of being Pked.

Try EVE online. Its more popular(#1 liked on these game forums! OPEN COMAT WORKS!) than most of these small time crappy pvp games like DAoC, and it has all you want. You can even kill new new new players, if you have the firepower to do it (and dont mind losing it and taking a security hit).
Would be nice if a developer would create a fantasy rpg based on the EVE concept. It would be the "next big thing", and possably either become bigger than WoW, or take alot of WoW's bored subscribers that want something a bit more fun.
There isnt much out there in this carebear game infested world.

Hey bro,
in no way have any of your 3 posts helped me find a game. Please stop posting on here man. I know you think I like ganking people rather than pvping. That is incorrect. I want to be able to do both. Also try to keep in mind that it works both ways. I have been ganked in the past too but the difference is that I wouldn't cry about it.
Thanks for your two cents but I'm looking for a game not a critic!

First of all, i am not trying to help you find a game. Why would i? All you want to do is ruin somones playing experience. Secondly, just because you were ganked once doesn't make it ok to do so. The only reason for someone to be out ganking people is because they can't step up to people their level who present a challenge. They just want to roll people who pose no threat to them. Finally, i see no one complaining here except you.
Ok dude,
That's about as much whining as I can take in a day's time from you. You obviously didn't read anything I have written so there's nothing left to say but STFU!
Thanks to those that have suggested games!

Try a PvP designated server on Age of Conan, its due out December of this year, with an open beta sometime between now and then. The regular servers wont be what your looking for, but the pvp ones should be close enough to FFA to suit anyone.
You might or might not care, but I and my guild have a KOS list for anyone we catch ganking lowbies.

To bad you dont know me. I use the term to show how the restrictions render conflict useless, where the role playing aspect is replaced with numbers, to define the people who hide behind these things. Why fight meaningless battles?
If I swing a sword at you, it should hit.

Open PvP allows players to do things which are meaningful to the game world. PvE allows players to do things which are meaningful only to themselves. Decide for yourself which you'd rather play.
StarPort: Galactic Empires. Tho probably a bit too harsh for you.

Sorry, double post.
Isenthrax, why do you come barging in the thread challenging the guy's playstyle? Who cares how he likes to play, he asked a simple question and if you don't have anything productive to add, then don't post. You're just trolling.
In other words: Get off your high horse. This topic has been discussed to death in endless threads on endless forums. People have different playstyles... that's why there's room for more than one MMO in the market.
Anyways, to get ON topic... I would agree that EQ2 would be a decent choice. You could also try Ultima Online (Seige Perilous shard) or Ashen Empires if you want to keep with the top-down perspective. Both games have been around a while, but there's good players who'll help you get started in both.
Good luck!

I'm a fellow Shadowbane addict, and I guarantee you that any other Shadowbane addict will kick your face in if ever they meet you in a game. Carebears are weak scum.
Shadowbane has bred some pretty cruel and ruthless gamers.
Sound like you may be a carebear (hate that term).
