Unfortunately Project Entropia has been out for many years - you can walk across the entire world no problems & no zoning but the free transport is there to be used.
star wars galaxies also has no zoning unless you want to count *changing worlds* as zoning. You can also travel the entirity of space but again, the option is there to transport you faster.
The only thing new about DnL is its probably the first game to incur a law suit within the first 2 weeks of release. So good luck with that innovation.

I think you are mistaken, DnL is the first SPOTG ( single player online trekking game), you can go for hours without seeing an other player, hell, even jeuxvideo.com said "if you like being alone online, buy this game", or "there is a lot of trekking, if you like trekking, it's a good game", the game is huge and empty, apart from the random spawns of mobs and empty village.... and as soon as you get near the rare other players the frame rate get even worst... i wonder what would happen if they had like half their server capacity full... Now for the last part, saying it is an RPG is far fetched when there is no story to the game.. you just pop out of nowhere, dont have any story line to follow and the lore online is inexistant
and well i dont like EVE but, i prefer some loading time when zoning than random crashes to desktop/endless bugs/non working skills
