anywho, my opinion is that, americans hate canadians.
it MIGHT be George Bush. after all, I do remember one time, when Canada refused to help America to invade Iraq and bomb the place just to steal the oil. pretty whacky
There is an unmistakeable sort of enimity between us and the Americans.
It probably stems from the colonies of Lower Canada, Upper Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick refusing to join your war of independence.
It is easy for us to feel disgruntled with the U.S. because you are 10.5 times bigger than us in population. All the major companies are based in the U.S., and you have quite a bit of pride about your country. That said, patriotism is a good thing, but we tend to keep our patriotism inside ourselves a little more.
Americans might feel a little ill-will towards Canada because we wield a disproportionate amount of power on the world stage (for our population)

Obviously anyone who says this has failed his/her history class and knows nothing about North America history, which started before the British came here. For a long time, the French Canadian were, as called by the historians, the white niggers of America: exploited by the Church (Catholic), exploited by the state, exploited by companies, etc. Our situation is better now and the French-Canadians are one of the most educated people in the world. Jack Kerouac was the descendant of French-Canadians working in factories in horrible conditions. Let's just say we have fought to have a better life, better working conditions, education, we kicked aside the Church, we have fought to protect our culture (entirely different from Canadians and Americans) and our language. Having our own country seems like the next logical step for many, so that we have full control of our destiny/laws, etc..

The only reason Quebec advanced in any way was because the British took it over, not some glorified struggle for freedom. Lots of luck on that own country thing, the Natives will never leave Canada to join a Quebec country. It would be nothing more then a little strip of land along the St Laurence.
Originally posted by Jorev No No NO, you got it wrong. Americans don't hate all Canadians, just those silly French Canadians, since they are basically French and we hate the French for good reason. I think the rest of Canada hates the French Canadians also. They did want to become their own independent country after all.
Th U.S. wanted to become it's own independant country from Canada too. And it did.
Although they didn't hate the French at the time, since they made it all possible. In fact U.S. independance was lead by the French Americans and they adopted the French system of government and still use it to this day. French America, is the bit below Canada and above Mexico.
Canada and the USA are like two brothers...We argue and insult each other simply becouse we know we can and not really fear any kind of serious rebutal. But with all of the minor problems between us we are still alot alike and respect and care for each other in the end. And when one or the other is in pain or trouble we help each other.
I have many Americian friends and while we disagree on alot of political issues in the end it all goes away because we are alot alike.

I am an American, and I do not hate any group of people in general. I don't really "hate" anyone at all, in fact. I do intensely dislike certain individuals, and one or two of those individuals may happen to be Canadian, of course... But there are also lots of Americans I dislike as well.
However, that said, my personal experience with both groups of people (I used to work in a lab in the Seattle area that was about 50-50 Canadians and Americans, actually, at least for a time) is that there's a bit of smugness on both sides of the border. And that smugness can rub people the wrong way. I remember a local radio host in Seattle reading out loud an editorial that had appeared in a Vancouver paper on "Why Canadians are better than Americans." The reason? (The host was in stitches laughint at this). "Americans think they're better than we are."
Ironically both sets of people seem to think of themselves as "better", and yet blame the other group as "acting like they think they are better than we are." And I think it works both ways, and so both Canadians and Americans are guilty at various times.
When you come up against it in a person it can be unpleasant. There was one guy I worked with, Canadian, who had an obnoxious habit of constantly criticizing the US and he was rather insulting about it. That made me end up disliking HIM, personally. But it didn't make me dislike all Canadians. In fact at the same time there was another Canadian, a girl from Quebec, in the lab, who was quite pleasant and I was (and remain) good friends with her.

Don't worry, Canadians have not been singled out. In the last 5 years Americans have developed a hatred for everyone. I love everyone, that's why I'm moving to Canada.
Canada does have a f**ked up government now, their new nazi leader was bleating on about how measured the Israeli response in Lebanon was, the next day 8 Canadian civilians were murdered by israel - I belive that's the force of karma.
I think it's more of a rivalry with the US and Canada a bit like the brits and australians, at the end of the day we're all brothers have spent the past century fighting each others wars etc.
I would suggest the US media make out that they hate Canada, but this suits the zionist ploy to spread fear & derision among the population, disconnect FOX surf the blogsphere and find some real news
Not sure where you're from that you think Americans hate Canadians. I'm from Hockeytown, if you're Canadian you know what US city that is (hint: Steve Yzerman), and we're all bummed out that in a couple of years we're going to need our passports to go to Canada. Lot's of good restaurants in Canada, lots of good people, lots of friends. We work in Canadawe shop in Canada, Canadians work in hockeytown, and shop in Hockeytown. Alot of cross border traffic. What I hate is our government getting so darn formal after all these years. Gads, our supermarkets sell alot of Molson's, Tim Hortons has great coffee, and The Red Green Show is funny. Couldn't ask for better neighbors anywhere else in the world. Just not sure why you let French Canadians drive, they're crazy you know.
I'm canadian and I'm not sure if I'm hated by americans, all I know is that a common subject of topic in canada is to discuss the low level of intelligence of americans and tell eachother american jokes...
A canadian and an american are stuck on an island, the american spends a month building a raft to get off the island and the canadian simply looks around and walks across the bridge.
