there are plenty of games with solid graphics out. they suck, but they look real. I would rather have a great story and fun missions. Too often these days developers are dumping all the resources into graphics and just writing in some "go get me 5 rat tails" crap at the last minute.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
It goes along the same lines as a big blockbuster movie that has no story but great special effects. Take King Kong for example. Great special effects, terrible movie. I'm not buying into it.
To me the graphics look great for POTBS, if they havea good story, fun missions and good people playing then I am going to enjoy it. Case closed.
I think the controls and animation details are more important than graphics. Take Eve for example. The graphics are good, but you can barely control your ship. You don't get to leave the ship.
Were it should be: decent graphics, you can get out of your ship, you can fly your ship in cockpit view and instead of only being abot to route your flight path, you can control the ship like you would a plane.
Things like that is what i find more important than graphics.
UO, SWG were good examples of games with great options that most games do not have.
That is like debating what is better in a MMO, SOLO or GROUPING.
Well, obvious answer: They are BOTH very important as this is what most of your players are going to do most of the time.
BioWare will have decent graphics, unequalled stories, quests, RPGing elements in the MMO world...and I would be freaking surprised if GROUPING and then SOLOING are not their 2 most aspects.
