    1) EVE got no cap at the amount of skillpoints you can get, WAR will have an cap on the amount of skills you can get.

    2) Skills in EVE got an passive bonus, and may lead new fittings and/or ships. WAR will most likely give mostly active skills, while giving access to an broader catagory of items.

    3) EVE training is done automaticly over time, training in WAR will be done by grinding.

Doesn't really have alot in common, if you ask me. Except for the fact that they are both skill systems, yet each game handles it differently.

WAR's lateral advancement system will be more familar to SWG pre-cu's system, most likely.

I don't think this is bad, but I agree with the other reply, I think it will be different.

I'm basicly just spinning my wheels while I wait on this game.

Sacking an enemy's capital, while getting loot, is all I need.  As long as the game is fun doing it, I don't care if it is skill based, level based, or something else.

lol, for some reason that struck me as hilarious. i think this is indeed a good system for a pvp-centric game, i also like how your character changes visually as he gets stronger (i.e orcs get bigger) very kool idea IMO.

awsome, this makes me even more hyped about this game!!

  • What career path do I need to wear puffy sleeves and a codpiece?

Seriously, though...has anyone played the old pen and paper RPG? What kind of careers were available to your average human?

God I hope not. All we need is another turd in the barrel like you stinking up the forums when they change something you don't like.

SWG is fine and placing all the blame on SoE for the changes is rather short sighted and ignorant.

As it is I'm not sure this is entirely correct cause the interviews I heard from GenCon spoke of levels and what not though it could be like CoH where your power pool doesn't increase...

Wow, There was no need for that. I'm not sure if you played SWG in the old days. But the changes they made were not small celestian. Although I was never a huge SWG fan, the changes caused confusion and required a player to change thier style of play. SOE did not listen to the consumer, this is not ignorance, this is fact. You need to understand the product before the change and after the change for you to rightfully accuse him of being ignorant.

    Crikey! Watch out!

Observe closely, A post SoE SWG fan has been disturbed and is lashing out to nearby inhabitants of this forum.

This is a rare sight indeed, as this species is almost extinct, many scientists owe this fact to its slow wit and its ignorance of other habitats, and also its inability to hunt smarter prey.

We are very lucky to be seeing this, Crikey! its gettin real defensive, back off a little, it cant see reason!

It hunts alone and only strikes at certain moments, Its baffling that such creatures still exist.

    O_o o_O

    Empire Halbadier or Musketeer maybe?

as to the original topic, this is the best news I've heard yet. Old school SWG and that was one of the things that was so great about it.

    RIP SWG

In a recent interview linked up there, Mythic has confirmed how WAR will follow a lateral advancing scheme than a vertical one.
This was a motive of concern for some fans of the game (well, at least one, that's me) as a vertical advancing system (same as WoW, EQ2, Lineage2, EQ etc) is not very appropriate for an intense, pvp-centric game as a maxxed level player has no chance of deafeat against hordes of lower levels.
What lateral advancement means? Figures UO or SWG PRE-NGE. as you progress in the game, you get more and different skills and moves to make you more versatile and do more things than before.

Yep excellent news. SWG skills system pre-NGE is certainly the best I have ever played and being a warhammer fan also this has certainly cheered me up.
