As a player who has recently had ingame experience in DNL, I can tell you that there must not be more than 100 at any given time and even then I am guesstimating. I have rarely seen more than 10 players within a few minutes. Sporadic sightings of a solo or small 3-4 group. Logging in at different times and different days, this has not changed within the last few weeks. The last event was max 50? I would guesstimate that also as it was a catastrophic event and much confusion and mayhem. It may have even been the pets which made it appear to include more.

It is truly hard to find a player base while ingame. There may be one guild doing something in which you may have 12-15 at once, in one place at one time but that is few and far between. Within the past recent weeks, you see this less and less.

I honestly wonder how you can tell how many people are on at one time.  I mean unless you write down names, thanks to the AMAZING avatar creation tools available, everyone looks the same...

Maybe it is like the old Flintstones cartoons where the same background repeated over and over while they were driving.  You see a person, he runs past you, ducks around a building and runs past you again.  YOU JUST SAW 2 PEOPLE.  I am sticking with my theory that there are never more than 16 online at any one time.  Do not ask how I came up with that number.  It was only after days of tedious research and high level mathmatical equations (that means it was a random number).

It is good to see that DnL is slowly dieing the miserable death it deserves. *smiles sweetly*

I think I can still pop in and see what it looks like, not sure since I did buy it but cancelled it a few days later which still should leave a week or so on the account.  Biggest fear is getting charged again next month because of some silliness on their behalf.  "Aha she logged in once after she cancelled that constitutes reactivating so lets charge her".

Please don't ask why I purchased, it was a whim.  But the reason I cancelled was pretty much the idea of buying dang food all the time.  It wouldn't have been so bad if A) the stuff was cheap, and B) it didn't consumed so fast.  I did figure out on my own that you have a certain amount of free deaths and each time you died you started fully green in the food/drink meter other than that making isk was a chore at lvl 1 and food pretty much sucked up what little I could get saved up.

I bought it as soon as I found a post by someone saying how to get a successful refund.

Well, it was my own fault for doing it so will chalk the loss up to being a little overly compulsive.   I only hit 4 starting towns last night and seen:  3 folks in the light human starter area, 3 in the half ogre (orc?), 2 in the wood elf, and zero in the brave starting town.  Thats 7 total.  Granted I was on for only 15 mins or so and just stayed in those places.

I guess before it expires I will hit every starting town and do a tally.  Just have to do a lot of create character/ delete character to do it.

    I agree. >:D

Are you kidding me? 40 people online is a *NEW RECORD*

    It has potential.

I am still ingame, about once a week lately, too many problems, easier to stay away and come out and test every once in awhile than to constantly mess with everything. The last time I was on, I was on for about 4 hours. Saw exactly 2 players.

The reason you don't see many new players in the starting area is that they quickly leave as they are eager to start their adventures in Gannaroth and are out killing mobs in the dungeons and laying siege in pvp.

They must be playing a different game.  DnL does not have dungeons.

Zippy this tool showed up yesterday or so. He made that troll post "Thinking about buying this game", pretending to be interested, and instead revealed his true intentions a mere 3 or so posts later. Don't bother, he is doing his best to imitate our ol friend JeanLouis (cheers SB!).

I suppose he'll keep it up for a week or two, have some giggles then dissappear.

ClintTX if you are a real forum member here, then shame on ya for trying this fake fannyboi BS on this site, I mean its funny on the DnL boards, but you just look dumb trying to pull this off here. Seriously

Anyone find it interesting that everytime one of these new fanboi posters shows up, they seem to write, respond, and word posts very similarily? I find it hard to beleive the 4-5 trolls posting BS about the game are different people.

Like above, ClintTX (ZtyX?) posts about dungeons...We all know there are no dungeons in DnL. Exactly like Jean used to do, or Weg...

If you think there are no dungeons then you obviously haven't been to Tower of Insolence perphaps you do not have the required faction rep with the appropriate god.  Sometimes it can be difficult to notice all the dungeons when you are flying hight above this exspansive world on a hang glider and taking in the decadence of the game world.

He could be someone pretending to be a fanboy.  Often it is hard to tell if someone is mocking the percieved stupidity of a fanboy or actually a fanboy itself.  Regardless it is just spamming the forum with troll posts and it doesen't deserve the attention it craves.  Better to just ignore him and it will most likely go away.

Latest pop numbers as of July 19, 2006:

    3 devs
    7 dev's family members
    13 dev's and/or family member's friends
    3 dev's dogs
    1 stray cat
17 roaches (10 from the main server, 6 from backups and 1 just wondered in recently)
    3 brain dead junkies
1 skeleton (although he doesnt play, but he is sitting in a chair facing the computer running D&L wallpaper, so that technically counts as playing D&L)

    Total:
    Population of 48

I think thats as close to reality as it gets

I actually seen one more person than Alouisious did during the 45 mins I was on.  I made the rounds to all newbie starting towns and seen "1" Wood Elf, "1" Human, and "1" Fairy.  Every other town was empty.  Could be everyone was out in the higher level hunting grounds which means there is absolutley no new growth.

Who was the fairy, that wood elf or the human?

I didn't grab names this trip, maybe to protect the inocent or maybe due to approaching senility.. The human was lvl 52 , Fae was lvl 8, and the Wod Elf was just a green blip on the radar.  Every time I have popped in there was always a higher lvl human standing around.  Not sure if it was Sir Rock or not?

yes it works, but it has been photoshopped and it was designed by a local hobo Farlan met on a street ( I hear that hobo now suing NPCube for Intelectual Property Theft and for sexual assault )
