I find it extrememly hard to believe a company would limit the amount of people that can purchase a game per day.
I am sure they have their reasons. I'm sure they might even be good reasons.
But after putting up screen shots. Giving developers interviews. Basically doing whatever a company does to generate buzz they turn around and say
"Sorry, you can't purchase this. You have to wait your turn"
I'm sure other people knew about this. I guess I just didn't read it before today. But as far as I'm concerned, that is just a completely idiotic thing for a company to do upon release.

its 500 per day and the reason they did this is because they do not want flooding .
As it is the server has problems with the extra 500 joining the preorders with server laggin behind at times for as much as 10 mins and random disconnections.
If you are intrested in the game you can buy a key tomorrow or the day after. In total i think they are selling 500 keys for 10 days=5k .
Actually i expect the whole 5k to sell off easily ,after all there are a lot of mmorpg players out there who wants to try something new and fact that its the only sandbox game to be released in last few years makes it even more attractive.
They said they are working on fixing the servers .
I admit the features of this game interest me greatly.
But after reading on how cluncky it is, or how you must do the boring thing in the beginning or how the game lags so badly even with 500 people, my interest dwindled.
I'm going to wait 1-2 months before deciding to buy this game. You guys keep the good work by posting bugs
Well tbh i would suggest waiting a few months and see how the game gets along but people will always want to see it for themselves espically with fanboys coming here and telling them everything is great and as promised.
Afterall i did pre order on recommendation of a fanboy who says how great everything was with only "minor hiccups".I got into beta and the days i tried i logged it crashed badly after a little while.Again fanboys said i just had "bad luck".
come release.Well you know. And yet you have same rabid fanboys trying to convince ppl everything is excellent.
If I can't buy the product when I want to and play there is no way they would get a dime of mine. Any little interest I did have in RV has quickly gone down the drain with how they have handled their release.

Fadeus, for heaven's sake wake up.
RedBedlam are easing players into the servers because they accept their limitations.
Would you rather they let everyone in, then sit back and watch as the server crashes every minute?
And furthermore, even if RedBedlam DID handle the release poorly, it's a small price to pay, considering that not only are they a bunch of blokes coding in their spare time, but they're also the first people to do something positive for the MMOG industry since EVE.
So stop being such a bloody whinger!
Sorry if I was being overly rude, but you struck a nerve.
.
Even if it was worth a shot before once a company tells me I can't buy my copy til tommorrow cause others already bought them all that is end of my interest. I find that unaccept from a game developer and can't support them anymore. Maybe if I was REALLY hyped about the release, but I haven't been that hyped about a game in years.

At least they've shown care in the handling of this game, this has sparked my interest more.
SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
I finally got in today. Went to start my quests and the NPC can only talk to one person at a time!!!!!! So you have 10 people standing around trying to get started and they can't!!!!!
Lets not even get on the topic of the lag. They say anything less than 300 is acceptable. I have seen 8000!!!!
Would love to rate this game but I can't even play it. Although they did get my money so I guess that's all that matters really

the lag isn't there issue, it is yours. As they have stated you could live next door to the server but if you have to make 500 jumps before you get there your lag is going ot be huge.
AS for you Fadeus, your jsut becoming a troll, lots of posts but no useful input.
Your lag statement is a no brainer, but it is that way for every MMO. Roma Victor doesn't hold the market on network hops.
Troll? Awww, I am crushed. I posted one trollish comment and the rest have been straight up concerns / critisisms. Sorry if you don't like my opinion but that really is your problem, not mine.

Jusmt making sure everyone realized it was not server or anything to do with the game.
1 post? I counted at least 6. Your commenting on a game you arn't even playing like you know what your talking about.
I didn't make that comment...

Hmm seen you post around the RV forums hereso why are you shocked about the one person only talking to npc or the lag?
I think a few of us repeatedly stated this issues so should be no shocker to you.And thats just your first 2 mins in the game .Attending is coming and much more !
That's a ridiculous statement, to suggest it isn't their server or network issue.
Why is it most other games aren't having the same lag and crash problems then?

Blizzard lets you purchase World of Warcraft anytime you want, but you still had to wait in line to play it when it first launched. To me, this is the same thing as what's happening with the limited sales per day of Roma Victor, only it's done in a less "intelligent" way, for lack of a better way of putting it.

I consider that to be worse. At least I had a choice of continuing to wait or not purchase. Blizzards way took your money and then said you couldn't play. A few years ago I think AOL got sued for advertising unlimited dial up and then had too many people purchase it that they couldn't serve anyone. Not positive but I remember something about that.

Well lets see on just the US launch Blizzard had to contend with about 600k subs. RV is selling 500 a day and apparently still can't stand up to the task so I really don't think your point is a very strong one.
Guild Wars is an excellent example, no monthly fee AND no queue and the game released in VERY stable condition.

Whether Roma Victor sells 600K or 5K, it doesn't make my point any more or less valid. Blizzard under estimated, and Redbedlam is being cautious not to over sell and have their servers flooded, which will just make more of a mess. It is simple, a company will try to estimate the extent of it's services and sell accordingly.
In this case, Roma Victor is being limited due to the companies resources and I think they are doing the right thing in how they are handling it. Just because you can't get your cake and eat it too, it doesn't make what they are doing wrong.
