Good Char class to start out with?

in Final Fantasy XI
Hey all, I'm gona get FFXI as soon as i finish building my computer. I was wondering, what would be a good char to make? I was thinking a Hume White mage, cuz i whant my char to be pretty, and i whant to be helpfull. So you think this would make sence?

    U should start whatever you feel suits you best. I myself am a lvl 13 warrior. Kinda new to. Started just a bout a week ago.

    A whm hume sounds just fine, whitemages are needed. Hard to find them sometimes :)

     If you want to be a whm then definitley go for it. Finding groups with warriors/theives is VERY hard to get.

    Thats kwl, in a few months wen my computer is finshed, ill make a hume whm, and his name will be Tallon, so tell me in a few months ^_^ thanks alot, oh and is it hard for a white mage to level?

     Nope. All classes pretty much level the same. But a whm will always be able to find a party so intentionally they have the advantage.

    This is probably the greatest thing about FFXI is that there is no class that is a "minority" nothing that gets robbed, there are pretty much no balance issues, or no noticeable ones. Sure each group needs a healer and a tank, but there are plenty of fighters and whitemages out there, from that point its all about what you want in the group.

    my brother is making a UK only linkshell    as its hard to fing uk people to talk / party with so if u want to join come time pm Tirial next week

    Oh come on. Monk is the best. I'm gonna be a Galka monk/(sub)Warrior. A Walking Tank would be a good way to describe it. image

    Whatever...A friend of mine is gonna be TaruTaru white mage and i'll be a monk; So we're gonna be all set.

    They have HP up the wazoo! When combined with warrior they get the provoke ability making them worth twice as much. Theres alot more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

     Im a warrior/Monk. Since u get alot of HP, it's a good tank if you have the right armour, and enough damage to keep your party satisfied.

    Ah yes if you tell me when you get it i'll get you a world pass from a GM and we can play on da same server. (if you want) Thats what i'm doing with a friend of mine. I really need to ask my friend what kind of mage hes gonna be...i'm not exactly sure what he has in mind.

    That'd be kwl, u no i might it alot quicker cuz im selling stuff on ebay alot and im getin money for my computer really quickly, i  expected to get my cpu and motherboard and my cpu fan three months or so, but its only taken me a few weeks^_^ so yea thats gona be awsome. Do u have aim or yahoo, or msn?

    A Linkshell is a group of characters that can talk no matter where they are at in the game. To get in one you have to be given a LP (Link Pearl) by someone in the Linkshell or you can buy your own Linkshell for 8,000 gil. I only now where to buy this in bastok but if you ask around Im sure people in San and Win have might know. If your in Bastok you can go to a shop in Port bastok and a lady can sell them to you. Also the only one who can make LPs is the one who owns the LS so its up to them how many hey want whether its 1,2 or the whole server.

    Just for your information though Savant on Caitsith is the best LS to get in to.

    well thats not totaly true I have heard of people that just keep making a character and if they don't get onto the server they want they delete and start over again. But its not like it's hard to find a friend with 1,500 gill to buy a freakin world pass.

    Their youst to be a mod where u cld get into the Ragnarok server. But the playonline ppl fixed that to.
