As a watcher rather than a participater in all this . You tend not to care
and at times make light of this mess .
But even a person in my postion still wonders , When will SOE throw in the towel ? The fact is subscrpitions have not risen at all ,This is something everyone knows (they remain on a steady decline).
Yet SOE /LA stay on course ?!?!
Let me clarify , By throw in the towel I mean admit defeat . Because they have been defeated , By their ex subscribers . IMO they have been hurt far more , By bad press and word of mouth . Than by the quality of their games or their buisness ethics . Most MMO subscibers are adults , And most of them understand never expect honesty or perfection from a corporation. Very little in life today , revolves around being honest and/or reliable .
I think it is time they opened a classic server , I do not believe they should roll-back . There in fact are players enjoying NGE .And noone should have their work ripped out from under them . Even if it means compensating a prior victim to such actions.
The simple fact is it would only bring them more money .

Just wanted to highlight that statement. You knew it was coming.
Once had 8 accounts between my fiance and myself. NO botters [I don't expect you to believe me], just loved RPing in the sandbox style of game that was Pre-CU.
Guess how many accounts we have now?

I agree with you, it's a bit like a certain dictator sat in a bunker planning his great comeback as the Russians advanced from the east and the British and Americans from the west (don't want to be too specific and get a ban again!).
You just want to shake the guy and slap him around the face with a wet fish until he realizes that he had lost more than a year ago and he just needs to surrender now.
But Smedley just doesn't seem to want to accept defeat, despite his obvious failure in achieving what he set out to do with SWG over a year ago. All he has done is turned SWG into a niche game and made hundreds of thousands of subscribers mad as hell, resulting in a bad rap for SOE and all their products. Even Vanguard, a product yet to be released has suffered greatly due to Sigil's deal with SOE. The longer he goes on denying the existance of his defeat the more ex-subscribers become frustrated, and the less chance there is of ever turning SWG around from a niche game to a popular game with SOE as a respected brand name.
The problem with setting up Classic servers is Smedley, he doesn't want egg on his face nor does he want to give anyone a reason to fire him. He made alot of good decisions in the past but it seems he believes that all his decisions concerning MMOs and the market are always 100% right, and classic servers would show him to have made mistake. Classic servers would show him to be, dare I say it? Human?
I'd never go back, even if they had classic servers although my girlfriend probably would. I just no longer trust SOE as a whole, despite having been interested in some of their games post SWG (planetside) I have refused to even try them out due to the company that I know so well. SOE has gone from fame to infamy in so many peoples opinion due to one man refusing to accept he's wrong.
That's just my opinion anyway, I could be totaly wrong .......

I agree. SOE seems to be running through the game with blinders on and their fingers in their ears. Bad press, bad reviews, very questionable business ethics cannot mean more money for them, yet they continue on with the NGE like all is well and everyone loves them. Its almost hypnotic to watch these guys, totally oblivious to reality it seems.
Classic servers are a must if they hope to bring in more folks.

heh SOE burnt there bridges with a lot of folks with this NGE system they put in,the only thing keeping the game running is the station pass,if it wasn't for that the game would of shut down one month after the launch of NGE.A lot of foks they will never get back,SOE has quite a reputation now lol which i'm guessing they wanted.
Bria last night with the event was on light load lol as well as the other ones having the event.If that isn't proof the game is dead then i dunno what is heh.
