Slicing tree under smuggler requires Merchant xp?  Just Weird.

Internally all current classes are represented by one starting profession and four elite professions. All five profs have just one line of skills so when you level up you just get new skills one by one. That stuff is not one prof with 4 branches but 4 elite professions with single branches.

    hmmm......

Intermediate Sniping Accuracy (Rifleman) yields the /mindshot2 ability

Advanced Sniping Accuracy (Rifleman) yields the /headshot3 ability

Intermediate Sword Finesse (Swordsman) yields the /melee2hmindhit1 ability

Master Sword Finesse (Swordsman) yields the /melee2hmindhit2 ability

Interesting that mind appears to be a targetable attribute again.  HAM anyone?

XP requirements for Rifleman and Swordsman look absolutely nothing like the XP requirements for Spy, even accounting for the difference between starting and advanced professions.  One of the Rifleman trees has only 3 tiers (there is no Master Rifle Special Abilities), most of the pre-NGE profs have 4 tiers, and NGE profs have 6 tiers.  Several of the starting professions require Apprenticeship XP to master (Shipwright, Politician) while others don't (Spy, Jedi).  I'm not calling shenanigans, but there is no cohesive design-driven structure to this whatsoever (no, that doesn't surprise me).  I would like more proof, though, before I buy into it.

What I find interesting, especially after yesterday, is that these trees are COMPLETELY different from the NGE, CU & Pre-CU systems... I mean, where did they get the info? It seems an aweful lot to make up on a respected site for no reason....

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

I dunno.. sounds like standard operating procedure for $OE.

The pre-NGE profs I looked at (notably Rifleman and Swordsman and a few others since there isn't any CH) are largely (although not completely) as they were before the CU hit.  Looks to me like a little selective deleting was done on skills in the old skill tree, that's all.

I also still have a hard time believing they will be able to effect a change of this magnitude while continuing to meet the development/bug fixing schedule they've already published.  It would take a lot of coding work and testing (oops!  I guess that's what the players are for!!) to do this.  Might explain some of the newly noticed devs, though.

Check the BH trees, when you look at them they go up to 6 and have different bonuses then the NGE... I'll check those too, but the ones I've checked look much different.

OK, I see what you mean... Marksman seems like Pre-NGE & Jedi is the NGE Jedi...

Well looks a bit dodgy to me, like a hack job at best but in my experience with SOE you never know. I remember when someone who i won't name emailed me 2 sets of design notes one for the apparent CU we were expecting and one for the NGE we got. Everyone of my ingame friends I showed them to agreed the CU notes seem like the ones we would see come into effect and look what happened the NGE came out of no where and was based exactly on the notes I had 3 months before there was a wiff of it in the air. Which brings me to my point you can't really tell with SOE what they are planning as they have the habit of shoving things into the game out of no where, and you can't really say if these are true or not unless you see them being implemented.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I can't help it. To go back to the Pre-NGE combat AND to get a lot of the old preofessions back in some form is just to good to be true. I'm really set up for a let down now. But I can't help but get my hopes up, because I wouldn't put it past SOE to do this.

I think it's preamature to have any hopes.  But why all the BS that's going on there right now?  It truly boggles the mind, Why do all this backtracking and trying to reimplement when it would be much easier to just lift the character database that exists now,  reimplement old code, reinstall chatacter database with mandatory respec.

Yes, there are still some minor issues to work our doing it this way,  but I think it would be far less painful for the devs than trying to recode all the old stuff back in over the top of three code bases already there.........

Perhaps these people are just so smart they seem stupid....  ya,  that has to be it......

I'll never get to test this theory, and I'm sure many have said this before, but I really think it boils down to legal symantics between LA and $OE. My guess is that $OE is contractually forbidden to 'rollback' or offer Classic servers, so they simply 'updating' the game. That way LA can't pull the license from them without a legal battle. $OE knows damn well they need the old game back in order to keep it alive. Why would LA want to keep the NGE you ask? They want the game to fail. In all likelyhood, if $OE can still provide the agreed license dollar value, LA can't pull the license from them and hand it off to another developer. Remember, this agreement was probably made long before anyone thought WoW would pull in 6 million subs, so $OE probably doesn't have to actually provide LA with all that many subs (if they haven't updated their agreement that is). So LA is stuck with SWG having maybe 150,000 subs (I say that very liberally), and contractually, that's a successful MMO. I'm sure LA would like to start from scratch with another developer (one that people still trust) and get a piece of that 6million sub pie, but as long as they have $OE in tow, it ain't gonna happen. NGE = dead game = LA giving the license to someone else.

Hope that made sense to some of you. Just my thoughts.

It all looks like a mix of pre-nge and NGE stuff. It makes no sense if you look at the break downs of each skill. I saw a tree for one prof that looked CU like and another that had no tree but looked like the NGE advancement system. Unless this revamp is going to be mixed trees and skill pie I don't see how it will all work.

    Exactly my point.

That's why I question the veracity of the original post on stratics or whereever.  As Shayde pointed out though, I wouldn't put it past $OE to push through something completely screwed up in a misguided attempt to bring back the pre-NGE crowd.  I'll believe the so-called psuedo-rollback when I see it, but it is probably a relatively accurate representation of the kind of thing they might attempt, once they figure out how to incorporate all the cacaphonous game elements together.

This is from the SOE website......

    Good morning,

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but last night was my anniversary

I'm Tiveria, the Associate Editor for SWG Stratics.

This page was our old professions page, before it was archived. If you notice, you can't GET to it from the main site anymore. We're working on archiving a lot of our old out-dated information.

You saw some newer information on it because we were working on updating it for the NGE, when we decided to not use this page for doing so. I deleted the newer information this morning to stop causing any confusion. You can find guides and things for the new professions on our site, as we work to update it.

    Thank you for your time.

As has been said, they were not just Pre-NGE professions.  Some were completely different.  SOE probably got on them for letting the cat out of the bag too soon, just like Amazon did with the starter kit.
They were too fishy to be just an, "oops, that was pre-NGE stuff."  I'm not saying that SOE WILL do that, I'm just saying that Stratics probably got ahold of what they COULD be doing.  Remember, Stratics is VERY close with SOE.  They probably got the info and didn't know they were supposed to keep it quiet.
