Horizons has a free trial and they put it on fileplanet???  Does FilePLanet have some magical hold over thes eplaces.  It sucks and is slow.

Horizons is an MMORPG.  If they do not have enough bandwidth to host their own download, I definately do not want to be playing their game.

    FilePlanet is a great service if you PAY. But seeing as how you want to download a FREE trial of a game I can understand why you dont want to pay. If you are getting something for free you have no ground to stand on.

    Thanks for the $40 but it realy sucks you gave it to me in twentys. Why don't you give it to me in fives?

    Its fileplanet making an exclusive deal with Horizons, Not because Horizons doesnt have enough bandwidth.

    I wont give up my subscript to Fileplanet, its only 7 bucks and I can get all the files i need for mods, patchs and demos without hassle at a speed pace. :)

    No, what I just said was, "Thanks for the $40.  Why did you throw 4000 pennies on the ground and make me pick them up?"  I don't need $40 that bad.

    They want to make me go through a hassle or pay another company $7 so that I can possibly give them $40 for their game and give them $13 a month.

    I think you have missed the point entirely.  The whole world is moving away from Customer Support and Appreciation.  It is pathetic.

    The point is, if they had not put it on FilePlanet, they would have had a greater chance to get $40 and $13 a month from me.  Right now their chance is about 1%, would have been 50% or better had they made the download more accessible.  I have been seriously considering getting this game, but without testing, now way.

    omg i hate fileplanet.........i just want to try DAOC and Horizons trial but i dont want to pay and its the only one source to get it !!!imageimage

     

    now i downloaded about 90 percent of horizons by their super hyper extra DL window,but then IT CRASHED !!!!! it stopped DLing and i couldnt make it working again !!! i closed the window and now i have to DL it AGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINimageimage

     

    i took about 10 hours to DL 90 percent of it and now i must try again and hope it will go to the end without errorimageimageimage

    free trials have nothing to do with the state of the game, free trials are just a smart idea

    Me when I first got Horizons (from beginning to end)-

    1.(first got it and DLing update)image 2.(playing it for first time ever)image 3.(become a guild leader)image 4.(person leaves guild for friend's guild and all land plots are claimed. no indepth skill system or attribute system.)image 5.(another person leaves guild for no reason at all and after not RPing on a RP server)image 6.(same person squelches me)image 7.(find out that a lvl 23 warrior is better in combat than my lvl31 dragon)image 8.(boredom and tediousness of fighting creatures 4-6 lvls lower than myself and resting for a minute or more after each kill)image 9.(stopped playing Horizons)image

    p.s. that took about 20 days...

    I tried the 7 day free trial for Horizons and I tell you what that game is the worst game I ever played. I played it for about an hour and I couldn't stand it. I quit the game, deleted my account, and unstalled the game. I never want to see a game like that ever again!

    Anarchy Online = Bad launch and about didn’t make it thus they did free trails and it saved them.

    DAoC = Has just now started doing free trail as of December of 03 after 2 years of being live.

    Ultima Online = Late free trials not sure when but I'm guess 2-3 years after the game came out.

    AC = Started Free trials late into the game also.

    EQ = not sure when they started but guessing they started very late.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

    Neocron = Does this game even have 30k users? Has it stopped bleeding?

    Endless Ages = You compare this to MMORPG's?

     

    Most free trials you can keep playing if you like. I.E. pay the monthly fee and your good to go. You don't need to go out and pick up that main box set. Just go get what ever expansion you want to go along with the base game.

     

    When a game launches that first $45+ you pay coves the development fee's and pays all the people that it took the get the game from the "GOLD" to the shelves I.E. the publishing company. The month fee is where they make money and continue to develop they game.

     

    Most games have a strong growth when they start out and shoot up to the 100-200k range in the first year or two. When the growth starts to slow that is when they will kick out the free trials to help keep the game growing as long as they can. The exception to that is a bad launch which generates a lot of negative toward the game and thus people may want to try but there not going to sink 45+ into the game just to try it to find out that the game sucks. As much as the developer would like to tell the stores to drop there prices they can't thus they stop getting new customers which they need to make the game better. Also the other exception to the free trial is you game sucks and you hope to make it better, but to make it better you need income, thus free trials to entice people to play and maybe stay.

     

    Free trials worked for AO will it work for Horizons, EA, NECRON? Only time will tell.

    ok most of that was pretty much irrelevant but whatever i guess, and Endless Ages, though it may suck now its still an MMORPG

    Early Free Trial = bad game or poor launch

    Late Free Trail = decline in growth, attempt to boost growth/population

    I love Fileplanet...one of the few sites that manages to actually let me use all my bandwith :P

    But then again I pay...and I think its worth every cent.

    I'd try the horizons free trial, but i've followed artifact entertainment/horizons for about 4 years. First two they were good....But they seemed to have a bad track record, and all the freakin bad reviews on horizons, and what, 3-4 months or so after release a free trial already? My CC just wouldnt feel safe in their hands.

    I'm all about free trials. Hell, I won't even play a MMORPG without a free trial. I want to know I'm gonna like the game.

    But I'll be DAMNED if I'm downloading anything from Fileplanet. They're gonna have to find another host.
