Games to wait for: Star Trek Online, Vanguard, Huxley, Lord of the rings online.
If you need to waste some time I always recommend guild wars - $15-$20 up front and no monthly fee + an immense population of players in every town (200-300 in some and a town is a VERY small area).

Just think. Only the lucky fools will be spending the $600 US dollars on a PS3. Many will be spending THOUSANDS on one in classified ads across the world and at auctions like eBay right after they come out and all the retailers PS3 shelves are empty of the new consoles.

he's got a 'buddy jesus' avatar... what's wrong with you? that IS the coolest avatar. especially because "people" have no idea who/what a buddy jesus is.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
Games I'm watching that are in development:
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
Sig image Pending
Still in: A couple Betas
Get to 60 and endgame or try a different class. Some are more fun than others

Good computer specs. I like. Any ways. -- Yeah, wait, thats what i'm doing. I" quit wow recently also, it offers nothing to a more then casual gamer. I've play swg, eq, gw, eve, ect. But like a poster said above. Most of todays gen mmos are dying.
- Wait for like Warhammer online, Age of Conan, Star Trek Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Huxley, ect.
They look to be promising. Next gen mmo's hopefully will be innovative.
But from what I've seen about others(especially what i've heard about vanguard...and especially from the videos ive seen(what its not eq2 only more boring? =P) I just can't get my hopes up about them.
But on the LONG term scheme, i'm looking forward to exanimus, even tho it's still in pre development, and may not even make it to release... it's about zombies... and i'll play it even if its the worst game ever...
If your looking for a game to play now, I'd honestly say CoV/EVE/GW would be your best bet for time consumption untill the next wave of mmos hit.
I'm sure nobody gives two shiny shits about your 60 hunter either.
noob

Ok,
since you have an uber hunter, that means your an experienced mmo player to some extent. So, help the guy
I didnt say it was :P i said thats what i dont say.
Anyways I found EQ2 quite similar and quite fun, so maybe try it but it might not be your taste. The gameplay is a bit stiff though and will take getting used to
Your machine should run Oblivion np. It should keep you entertained for quite some time.
Does suck not playing with anybody.
But then again, Its like all the other good single player rpgs, ex.KOTOR.
------- Friends of mine play Oblivion religiously , and they've got characters that are pretty powerful. Vampires, ect.
I'm a former SWG player who left when NGE came out. I was messing around with free trials for what seemed like every mmo on the market including WOW and nothing seemed right.
I had played COH when it first came out and worked up to a 30 blaster before realizing at that time there wasn't that much to do, and that's actually when I went back to SWG, beside the point but just a little info on my type of mmo's so you can decide if its for you.
I went back to COH around 4 months ago after purchasing a COV key online and adding it to my COH account. Funny thing is I haven't really messed with the Villains side much, my best friend and I used our heros and the new ability to create a Super Group base to get our Guild that plays pretty much all the major MMO's besides COH at that time up and running.
I have to say I've had more fun with heros now than I ever would have when I played at release. Its not a item based game which some say removes from the depth but I disagree. I carefully built my character and each addition you bring to your toon makes your hero a little more a vision of what you wanted out of a super hero not to mention the best create a player ever IMO.
I just hit 50 yesterday during double xp weekend and though some say the end game is weak I have so much I am looking forward to doing with my hero, I have tons of missions I haven't done yet Arch villians to battle, giant monsters to tackle and one of the most balanced pvp mmo's out there.
I believe the balance in PVP comes from the lack of it being an item based game. You don't have to fight gold farmers, spawn campers and all the other stuff that has turned me away from my characters in FFXI, Everquest one and two and Wow. The really cool thing is that each update adds additional cool content and areas where as many companies make you buy the expansions to get access to new zones. The best part about the new zones is each pvp zone has its own rules and objectives so each plays out dfiferently. The nice thing is the pvp isn't just fun fun, you actually get cool stuff from winning pvp battles and completing objectives. My best example of this is after winning a round in the 40 to 50 pvp area my team was all rewarded with a mech pet that you can bring out once and he fights for you for 30 mins, then the next time you complete objective in the area you can get another.
Also when you hit 50 with a toon you gain access to two new classes all together that you develop in what seems like a different manner than the core classes. They seem superior to other classes at first( and they are powerful) but they have a weakness like any super power hero does in comics, kinda like superman and kryphtanite the Peacebringers and Warshades must watch for enemies called the void walkers/seekers which can wipe them out in one or two hits, this keeps you on your toes and keeps balance from what I can tell.
If you build a good Supergroup(I suggest bringing friends into the game with you) the base development is really cool and can be useful as well as bringing guild versus guild battles called base raids.
I guess the reason I've had so much fun with it is the team combat, even in PVP team versus team's is so much fun. The battles really do look like something out of a comic and the games graphics are some of the best. One last point if pvp isn't your thing, pvp only takes place in certain zones and mutally agreed upon raids so no worry of that lvl 50 griefing eveyr lowbie just because he can.
