C'mon KFR, come out of lurk mode and have a giggle over that too.
Sorry but after playing this game for a week now, may be a fewdays over, I can say it is really not that good. It has great ideas etc but the game its self is not very good at all. Its not a Dark and Light fiasco but that was hyped up no end but again people hyped this up more then it deserved its not even average its a poor game, I might get flamed from "the fanboys" but I'm looking at this from an unbiased view and gave the game a shot. Unless it drastically improves and changes its "hell bent on reality" attitued so some of the day to day activities are passive, then I reckon this game won't be a success but have a couple of thousand hardcore fans/players at best. If the actual game was 70% finished when they launched then things wouldhave looked better for them but under all of the candy floss and hype its a poor MMO regardless from the design upwards.

The only sand in my vag comes from it getting kicked there by a guy who is bashing on a game that's been out for a few weeks he has never played...I think even you would agree that it is a little early to call this game a failure, considering games that had real distasters at launch (AO and wwiiol spring to mind) are still doing quite well and are quite popular in general and on this board in particular.

So I have to ask: why do people like you and Virtus care what others say about RV? I'm a big-time EQ2 fan and I personally don't give a rat's arse what people say about it, good, bad or indifferent....but folks like you and Virtus and a few others almost seem to get offended because someone is slighting RV. Who cares? It's a freakin' video game and if it goes arse up, oh well...move on and play the next game.
By having a conniption over what the h8er's all say, you're merely playing into their hands. Go play your game; that's all that counts and leave fruitless preaching to the vicars.

p.s. I think the game is a mess atm, but the title of this thread just rubs me the wrong way.
1570 odd posts in 8 months? Yes, I'd say you'd troll quite a bit. Anything you need help with?
Actually he is a former SWG player. Thanks to the NGE we have all had a lot to say over there. You can almost guarantee that anyone with a Nov 05 creation date and a high post count did so for that reason.
I will take a bite at your socratic apple...It annoys the fuck out of me when someone yaps about somthing they know nothing about. If it gets the haters nads pumped to have me call them on their shit, that is more thier issue than mine...at least I have had my say, and let others judge if I am spending too much time at cool aid bucket or if the OP is a wind bag you has no clue.
Why do I care? Depends what it is you think I'm caring about.
I've had an interest in this game for a little while and I've won a free account - something i'm still waiting to receive. So, logically, I read opinions with more than a passing interest. But, i'd never take opinions personally, or let it appear that I do. I simply don't care that much about a video game to do that.

OK, that explains everything. Glad we got that sorted out.
All of you can say I don't know what I'm talking about ...blah blah blah. Sure I'll admit I haven't played the freakin' game yet, you want to know why? Because after 90 minutes of trying to logon to their POS server I finaly connected, only to be DC'ed 2 minutes later! I uninstalled this joke of a game right after that. That's my experience with this steaming pile of horse dung. So go ahead and say what you will, but it seems that only the very, very hardest of the hardcore (I hate this word but here we go) "Fanbois" are sticking up for this game.

Didn't you say at the begining of the thread that you did not buy the game? Which is it?

By that standard, here is a list of games you think suck:
wwiiol
AO
EQ1(anybody remember the first weeks?)
PlanetSide
MxO
SWG
Just off the top of my head...I am sure there are plenty more.

SWG was my all-time favorite until ....well you know.
AO is a good game but the graphics suck and the camera controls need fixed.
EQ1 was good back in the day.
Planetside was fun for a while.
MxO sucked ass from day one.
WWII online, not my type of game ...never tried it.
The biggest difference between all those games you listed and RV is that those games have large companies behind them. They had the funds to keep them up and running through the hard times, I don't think RV has that going for it.
Every one of the games I listed had the exact same issues at launch that RV has had (some alot worse). I am just saying, it is a bit early to judge anything...

Yes I got your point, but you didn't seem to read my reply. RV doesn't have big money behind it, so if they don't get this game on it's feet real soon there's no way they can afford to keep it running.
You dont invest 4-5 years of your life day in day out including weekends (dont think 9-5, think 8AM - 5AM the next day) on a project like this, then just fold over when you hit a rough part in the road.
I'm afraid we're not going anywhere, you're stuck with us.

Kanoth, after reading a few of your posts I see that you are a nice guy with a good sence of humor. I would like to publicly retract my "this game is a flop" statement. Maybe I was too quick with my judgement, maybe not. My brother does have an account and thus far has had nothing but bad experiences with the game. He thought that it was his ISP but then we tried it here on my PC and still had no luck with this game. He said he was going to try it again in a month or so. The only way I will ever play the game is if my brother tells me it's now playable and that it's fun, not just a big empty server full of green textures.
I'm just really frustrated with all these MMOs promising us all these great things that they will offer when they launch, and then they are released in an unfinished state. Anyway, there's a lot of people who don't have the patience to wait 2 or 3 months for a game to be playable. I'm one of those people.
So as I said before I retract my "this game is a flop" statement.....for now, but there's a lot of people watching closely.
No problem at all. I've always been a true believer in everyone is entitled to their own opinions on everything. It wouldn't be a very exciting world if everyone thought the same and felt the same about everything.
You're right, unfortunately "unfinished MMOG at launch" has become accepted now a days. It's really bad when something like expecting a game not to be completed becomes a common thing among players. We were hoping to stop this, but the nature of MMOG development has prevented that. What we tried to do was update the players a few months before launch on what features we would be unable to include at launch, but could work in shortly after. Then this tracking problem blindsided us at launch.
That's in the past now. And one good thing about the past is it makes you who you are because you learn and grow from it. One thing I can say is we're going to try our hardest to get out of this rut and improve the gaming experiences of our players as soon as in-humanly possible (I still think some of the team members are actually cyborgs).
