I do they, make and run great games.
And for the most part do a damn good job.
Now i will say SWG was ruined by them, and John Smedely should be fired.
But like at their track record

Everquest one was created by Varent interactive
But SOE bought them out, now some may see this as a bad thing,
however I think SOE has done a good job maintaining and continually updating
and releasing expansions for the game.
It's still around and doing great,
If verant interactive had kept going, who knows where it would be.
Everquest II
The only complaint i have is that it looks so good i can barely run it haha.
Tons of tradeskills, and quests.
Always updated, expansions and boost packs
this game is expensive
But it is very well maintained.
The Matrix online,
Definitely not the best game, but SOE rescued it when it was falling.
The game was dying and now it has a safe haven.
Fans Rejoice.
Planetside,
Fantastic mmofps, I still play this one.
The action packed space war is continually updated.
And just hit its 3 year anniversary.
A very great game, SOE has done well with 3 xpansions, regular updates, and a decent price.

Starwars Galaxies,
Now SWG was fantastic, SOE and LA did a fantastic job at the begining.
The first year or so (however long it was) was fantastic until they made the CU and NGE
This ruined it.
Big mistakes were made, they took the game in the wrong direction,
and lost most of the playerbase for a new one.
Not very nice to loyal customers now is it?
Everquest Online Adventures,
This is the only mmorpg on PS2 next to FFXI and in many ways its superior.
Its regularly updated, has an expansion or two.
If you want a good, fun, mmorpg that can be played with a PS2 controller,
that has tradeskills, magic, everything everquest is known for,
Then give it a go.
I love them, SOE ROCKS!!
All of these games are regularly updated
And more are coming im sure.

But... to clear up a misconception you have (and a hell of a lot of other people as well) I shall now go on repeat #999999999 of my rant on the whole VERANT/SOE thing:
Verant Interactive, otherwise known as 989 Studios, otherwise known as Sony Gaming Division 989 for the EverQuest project was NOT a true separate company from SOE (Then known only as the Sony Gaming Division). Way back in the 90's John Smedley and Sony got it into their heads to create a MMORPG and Mr. Smedly then hired none other than Brad McQuaid to head up the project as the creative director and project leader.
Shortly after the project got under way Sony Gaming Division spun 989 Studios off in order to reduce liability to Sony in case the game failed. The division took the name "989 Studios" and continued work. Shortly before releasing the game (End of Beta 3 / beginning of Beta 4) they changed their name to "Verant Interactive".
Approximately 1 year later, once the game had recouped all of it's initial investment costs and was 'officially' "in the black" Sony re-integrated Verant/989 back into Sony under the umbrella of SOE.
Hope that clears things up. Verant wasn't a separate company. They were a subsidiary.
And, just to make things crystal clear: Spell Qeynos backwards: Sony EQ

Besides swg and planetside(and the only reason it's not is because of the mechs) all of soes other games are quality products. And heck eq, eq2, and swg all are still more popular then eve(account wise), and thats the "top rated" game here on mmorpg.com.

Lets see: One succesful game they bought from another company. One game that can only be counted as mediocre on the successcale. And the rest are pure disasters...

NGE really did ruined SWG, i joined in the game once that happen and found out that they lagged the game up and messed the systems up really bad, and since the people who now hate SWG's for that. The players who are veterans of SWG are rebuilding the pre-cu system to bring back the fun of the game, but they have to host private servers if you want to play in them. So therefore, due to SOE's ambitions of destorying SWGs like the imperials they are, the rebals are making private servers and bring back the Pre-CU, there beloved system.
I think your an idiot. EQ was ruined by SOE. All the expansions took out so much fun, they dumbed it down for idiots to play, i guess like you. SOE ruined probably one of the best MMOs ive ever played, SWG. Played it from launch, but after 3 changes to the system, it sucks now. EQ2 was all PvE, until they added pvp servers, but they dumbed down EQ 2 also.
If you played EQ, or EQ 2 from launch, theres big difference, that arent good. EQ 2 made it so death means nothing. You use to get exp debt if you or anyone in your group died, and exp was a bitch to get, too a very long grind.
MxO is ruined even after SOE took it over. The game was shit from the start, nuff said.

The sad thing is that I don't give a rat's ass about SOE or EQ or SWG and even I know that Verant was always a Sony project. Brad "The Vision" explained all that in some post I read. Man so many people who played EQ for years and someone like me who wouldn't touch that game with a ten foot poll has more correct info on the founding company than alot of them. Its sad.

I understand Everquest was Sonys always,
Because Verant (989 studios) was a division of sony.
But thats more of a positive thing now isnt it
Since its not like Sony buying someone elses work.
The other negative thing someone pointed out was that MxO was killed by SOE

I love Everquest 2. It has held my attention ever since it came out. A lot longer than other games. And the updates have all been improvements each time.

I am a hater because i have played every MMO from SoE, and they fucked with every one, dumbing it down to the point of WoW. Regardless if it holds your attention, im sick of these great MMOs that come out and over time, they decide to take out BIG IMPORTANT factors from the game.
EQ2: When it launched, it was super fun. You pick your race and your archetype class. You get to lvl 10, pick your next class, do a cool quest. LvL 20, pick your final class, do another class. They took that out, now your whatever class you want to be from the start. Exp wise, it use to take time to get xp. When you died or someone in your group died, you got xp debt. Now NOTHING happens when you die, its such a bitches game. The only thing they havent fucked with was the crafting system.
Your saying i have a closed mind? Are you a fucking moron. I played every SOE mmo, and because i think its the shittiest MMO company due to the long list of fuck ups, you think im close minded?
I dont need to reason with your dumbass or anyone, this is my experience, i gave up on people a long time ago trying to reason with half the idiots on the internet, just a waste of time and energy, so i just say what i think from my experiences.
I just hope SOE doesnt go and fuck up a game that isnt even out yet -- Vanguard.
