I Like Silkroad

Wind811Wind811 Member Posts: 26
Thats really too bad that you had a bad time with Silk, give it a chance.   I started about 2 weeks ago and I am almost 20 level.  I work all day too so I am not necessarily on 24/7.   Its NOT too time consuming, addictive, yes kinda, but its simple, I can log in and log off when I want as well.  I have pretty much soloed alot but I have a friend that is playing as well so its much faster.  It is a pretty neat game considering the characters are self-sufficient and your not dependent on a cleric or warrior etc to experience or level up.    Try playing another toon or experimenting.  I played Everquest for quite a while and a few other games but Everquest is dying and really dependant on other players to survive, was good while it lasted anyway, good pioneer game really.   I am not wasting my time going LFG all the time, I wanna play!!!  At level 17 you get rez although you cant rez yourself, its a great attribute to have and healiing skills at level 5 and they get higher as your level up as do tons of skills you can put points into.   Just read the forums for Slikroad.  I think its alot of fun and there are lots of different quests and some really neat events and neat stuff that goes on, read about it.

Just wait till you hit level 20. Levelling is WAAYYY slower, "quests" are like - kill 600 chakji workers, kill 400 hungyo ghosts, kill 500 earth ghosts, and you'll see how much exploits are in this game...

    what kind of exploits?

  • quessirquessir Member Posts: 6

    For example
    - the whole caravan/jobs system is totally unbalanced and kids are exploiting
it to the extent. There is so called 1* popping.

    Low level caravans are
theoretically protected from high level player thieves and thieves attacking
many caravans should get "wanted" status, allowing hunters to arrest
them. This (widely used) exploit allows high level thieves to attack, kill and
rob whomever they want without getting "wanted" status.

    By this, the
caravan system (which shall be the essence of this game) makes no sense until
you reach high level. This means few months of grinding, or few weeks of
    boting, like many do.

Oh..... =( So High level thieves attack low level caravans without punishment? Is it becuase there are no hunters to defend them or something? OH and what would oyu reccomend for a job? Iwas thinking thief but I hear it sucks if youre a low level thief.

There will be a new MEGA update coming soon that will solve some problems with the jobs, introduce European characters and weapons and maybe will open few other new things [maps? lvl cap? quests?].

Just be patient and try to enjoy what SRO is offering for free. I think community in this game is just great! I met so many interesting ppl from different parts of the world and for as long as you can filter out comments from players that are still on the diaper rash medicine and are spamming chat with their parents money then you are fine to kill some time developing your character and gathering these precious shining pieces of SOx equipment and weapons

I really enjoy Silkroad and would even pay $$ for it via the Item Mall and such.  However, those times when I want to play and get the "server is full" message leaves me disappointed.  Not being able to play everytime I wish kinda ruins it for me.

I do enjoy playing when I do get on though.

i made it to lvl 30 then lost my account info. lol. Its not that great even lvl 20 with job change its still more of the same which to me is lag and getting pked. and of course the endless grind.

    ----ITS A TRAP!!!----

  • Wind811Wind811 Member Posts: 26
Listen, there are several quests per level making the game interesting really, rather than grinding out levels and getting annoyed. I have 3 quests right now that I am doing at the same time, and if I dont feel like killing  one mob, I move on to the next or rotate.  Still get experience in the end and pp, advancement in skills in many forms to make yourselves better.  I think the concept is huge just because you can solo your way up and then start a job when you become better.  I think its a decent game for free and actually the only thing I can complain about then again EQ was like this af first, is disconnection and too much traffic.

thieves can thief 1 star traders if they high lvl without punishment by carrying loads in their camel/horse and staying in harmony so the npc thieves spawn and it doesnt atk them and atk other players near them but not in harmony a high lvl's thief can 1 hit a low lvl trader and that doesnt give punishments having quests is better than having no quests theres a quest at lvl 3x where u have to kill around 10k archers in order to get enuff drops but reward is really really really good another quest is to kill 1000 flowers and repeatable 3 times when ur lvl 41-44 u have no quests during those lvls and its pure grinding... its so slow and boring u ll start missing ur quests im 41 and have no quests to do and i get 0.02% each kill its boring and slow as hell

lot ppl say hero online and sro are similar. from what i heard about sro, and my experience in hero online, i think it is so. too much soloing monsters, doing all those quests which requires u to kill large amount of monsters. and the pvp is not good.

should try knight online. u can get to lvl 40 in less than a week, and quests are funner.

but thse two are pretty good too, decided to try sro.

I am almost 100% sure you have become one of these guys that hang out at some "servers" of Lineage 2 where they can level-up at lightning speed. I know SRO's quests become pretty much the same and they are boring but that's the idea of a RPG: level-up. Hard! If you could just level-rush to lv 100, you would have nothing left to do. It's pretty annoying when people came out saying level-up at game X is pretty hard and it shouldn't be that slow. I usually tell those people to play FFVIII where to make a level, you just need 1k XP. For every single level! I love FFVIII but that level-rush just sucks (especially cause the bosses don't give you XP). I mean no harm and i apologize if i was too agressive. Just stating the facts.

About SRO, i think the game is awesome just because it's free. There aren't much MMORPGs with this quality and being free. But yes, the game just gets boring because in a pay-per-month game, the developers are receiving money to mantain the game and they can be much more creative. In a free game, it's already a blessing that they make updates to the game. I think we all must see SRO as a free MMORPG and we can't ask much of the game.

yep this is good cos its "free" and if u get bored like me... stop and after some months u can back again...
    and yes lvling is slow.
better thing on sro is about when u die! u lose xp but not sp... so u can look to ur death with other eyes

and i cant log and log off when i want... but the point is... mmorpg as i know should be party depedant...
if u want play a single rpg u can pla nwn...

as higher u get u get few skills... u need see at ur mastery lvl xxx/300 so u can have 300 lvls of any masteries... if u plan get lvl 90(as i know is the cap of korean servers) u only can get 1 weapon mastery and 2 forces... or 2 weapons and 1 force... when it comes to game... game will be more balanced cos atm everyone get a cold/fire and light. sword/blade/bow and glaive. cos of skills.
and i still like sro... but im bored atm... cos kill 1 mob for 0.005 isnt that good.

    gl and hf

at least the grinding is not as meaningless as lineage2. in sro, while i kill the mob, i gain additional exp after i completed the quest. in lineage2, hell no, you just have to kill the same mob over and over again without additional exp.

In response to the topic title...

I hate silkroad. Too many of these types of below average MMORPG's out there with a horrible community of foriegn-speaking players.

Well, who doesn't? I think this game is a best game
  • madrugamadruga Member Posts: 226

Yeah, when you are noob the game is great but after you reach lvl 70 the game is boring.

The pvp is not free, loggin problems, lot of bots, no new areas (lazy devels). but its a free game, i dont care about SRO anymore.

    Oh well !

The game is fun, I like it so far, but I am still level 8. Of course there are such things like boring quests, boring leveling, always crowded servers, but as long the game remains free, is ok.
I don't think this game has the potential of becoming paid, at least I will rather choose another mmorpg than pay for it.
