Ok i just read 3 pages of post and got mixed feelings. People say WoW is for newbies at mmorpgs. Now i have been playing rpgs on the net for close to 5-6 years now and i played small ones and big ones, but never played WoW and plan to soon. So if WoW is for newbies or 5 year olds then what games are for me 15 year olds?? I mean i plan to take my love of MMORPGS with me to the grave when ever that maybe. But i plan to bring that avg age of mmorpg'ers up when i get to the 40s+ But that brings me all the the main question stated earlier in the post. Since WoW is for 5 year olds then what games are great or good what ever? Im 15 and i played Flyff(best one so far), RS, RPGWO, knight online, and eternal lands. So thats a good newbie list i guess. Whats SOE or SWG(star wars galaxy i think?)??

WoW is a good game - Its population cant lie, sorry it just cant, it is quite obviously the highest populated mmorpg out right now for a reason and new servers are still being created all the time to try and cut down on queues that it is still getting even to this day. So unless they make up the population numbers (which i doubt) then you have no feet to stand on in this argument.
WoW did not destroy SWG - As it has been pointed out SOE destroyed SWG, no two ways about it, it was up to SWG if they wanted to drastically fuck up there game or not by copying someone elses game, but making it alot worse than both there orginal and the game they copied. This had nothing to do with WoW.
WoW is a clean and smooth game - WoW runs extremely well, its well made and put together, its fun to play, its easy to get into and its user friendly, so many people ask for this and yet when it has been given they complain about it becasue they dont like how popular it has become.
Finally, there are not a great deal of "good" mmorpgs to play at the moment so alot of people see WoW as the best bet, why do you have a problem with them liking it, why do you care. Are you people really so sad that you are bothered what game someone else is playing. Move on in life, get a grip and do your own thing.
Im not a WoW fanboi (stupid word) but i do like and respect the game for what it is and for its success, I do belive there are better games out, but even then they are not a great deal better, but there are alot that are a great deal worse (flame them instead ?).

WoWs massive success is its user friendliness, when you first started playing, you were able to keep playing. It wasn't like eq2 or eqoa where your soloing then you hit a brick wall and suddenly you are forced to group to get optimum exp/do quests. And people enjoyed that.

Yes, MMORPGs were very very very long and painful before but the success u earn once u obtain max lvl/godly gear were much more vaulable to gamers becuz they worked so hard for it. RPing doesnt need the fancy old english language or crazy ceramonies, u r alrdy "role-playing" a character in this vitual world where u r "leaving ur mark" without actually going into this world. In MMORPGs u play a character and have fun in building "ur own toon", at least thats y i got into MMOs. But WoW has blurred the lines between a MMOG and a MMORPG, things are handed to u on a silver plate, removing the lvl grind also removes the barrier that stops most lazy gamers from entering the MMORPG world. After they have experienced WoW, they demand more of this kind of lazy games and bash tranditional MMORPGs for being "too hard". I respect WoW success but i dont like becuz of 2 reasons, 1. It flooded the MMORPG market with a bunch of lazy whiners who act like they r 10 (doesnt have to be physically 10) and 2. I played WoW for awhile and i really just couldnt get myself to like the game due to lackluster graphics and gameplay(its just the same old gameplay without the grind, which takes away the only thing u can really do in MMO, o yay i have a lv60 char...just like the other 235435347235134234 WoWzers)
