Hey eveyrone. I'm pretty new to FFXI (started about 2 weeks ago), and I really like the game so far. I have a lvl 20 WHM, 8 BLM, and 12 MNK. Anyway...I was thinking that it would be cool to be a ranger once I can get the job.

Anyway, I was wondering if it's still a good damage dealing job. I also heard that it got nerfed, so I was wondering if it was still an effective job.

I also am curious about what would be a good subjob for it. I was thinking THF or NIN, but not sure.

The RNG nerf effected The accuracy based on distance from the mob, Before, RNG could melee with Daggers and shoot at blank Range with almost 100% accuracy, And they changed it where you need to be a certan distance from the mob, You can still hit it close up, or really far away, but each gun/bow/xbow has a specific sweetspot that does optiomal damage, If you spend the time to figure out where each of these spots are, You'll become an excellent RNG. Too many ppl don't, and as a result a 50/100 Shots are misses.

As a subjob, I think only Nin is used, at least in exp parties, So you can dual wield +Range ACC daggers, And have 3 shadow's when you go out to pull.

Only NIN is used as a subjob, wich is quite expensive to level.

RNG is also expensive later on.
