Hello, I am a Game Developer. Our Team is currently developing an MMOPRG game. We are looking to see what you, the user, really wants in an MMORPG. So if you have any suggestions or ideas that you would like to see in an MMOPRG post them in here. Thank you for your time.

Non-grindfest, please, reasonable level cap. Good 3d graphics, no 2d scroller korean clones. Huge variety of armor and weapons, nothing uber l33t that is going to make you better than everyone else though. Variety is good but when a game is dependant on your armor and not your skill it becomes boring. CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION, I don't want to be able to walk into a town and see 30 other "me's" walking around with exactly the same everything as me. If it looks good, has alot of variety and is entertaining and fun to play you will have a success on your hands.

Yes, we will be having open PvP and we will have an extensive network of GMs to patrol the game.

We have been contemplating many different ways to make it not a "Grind-Fest". What ways would you say would be most appealing to level up?

Thank you for making it Open PvP .

I say do the normal leveling, you know killing monsters but don't make it too steep where we cannot get to the good stuff.

My suggestion is make the controls be FPS-style so more skill involved.

    ~Greatness~

    Currently Playing:
    Nothing

Leveling up in most MMOs today has no purpose, you level up for the sake of leveling up. I would like to play a game where leveling up actually comes with reward and purpose in my quest toward completion of the game. Certain milestones in your character's career could mark some sort of increased ability or something like that, basically I'm saying somehow encorporate leveling up back into the roleplaying aspect of the game.

So would having a quest where the goal of the quest is to get to a certain level be about what you are looking for? Something where by leveling up you get a reward. Thank you for your input.

Yeah, more or less along those lines. I'm not a game developer and we are chatting on a forum so it is hard to get my thoughts exactly through on any topic but you have the general idea.

Thank you, anyone else have ideas/suggestions or even things they do not want to see in an MMOPRG?

For the no-grind thing, elongate quests and make them have stories behind them so its not just about killing 10 of this or that. Maybe make them into parts and have to do different parts throughout the quest. I'm sick and tired of the generic quests being distibuted around the current MMO's

Okay. What about culture change through different zones? (i.e. One town is medieval and another is Aztec based, but semi-close to eachother on the continent)

Well i beta test a lot of games the controls are a big part 3rd person view or choices at least.

I like the idea of a reward for leveling but not easy leveling or super hard gets boring.

Lots of things to keep ya occupied is always nice, crafting, wood cutting, mining, farming, fire making, smithing, potion making, armor crafting,.

Quests or missions are great in any game usually.

Yes the ban cheaters is a must,so many games lately have been over run by  one group of people  and nothing is done about it.Games that had a great chance went haywire because of it.

Good gm and such support in a game is a nice feature if they are around players know people care that we play.

Different looks is also nice we all hate looking alike.

Thank you, and yes our GM staff will be very caring and we will have many throughout the game and they will be easy to contact. As for the things to do in your spare time, what things should there be? like what crafting should there be?

Having a unique character is probably one of the most imporant things to me in a game, armor crafting is a great way to have personal items made available. If you allowed for armor to be for individual characters or accounts like in GW you could allow the crafting system to be more versatile. You take certain materials, take them to an anvil or whatever and have a screen pop up with customization abilities. Certain areas of the armor can be made different colors, shoulder size, breastplate width, armor thickness and that kind of thing can be very neat and allow for alot of creativity to be put into a characters looks. Those are just some of my thoughts, I know as a development team it is alot to be asked of but if you really do make "the game" you will reap what you sow and be rewarded for it.

Controls, just no point and click.

Also maybe a big influence of the usage of guilds?

We have implemented a very unique and interesting Guild design that will blow the user away, although we are not able to release this secret yet.

Culture change sounds good as long as you can make a believable enviornment on your world/planet.  Open PVP sweet!  I would go with a skill based progression system with some unique skills available to different cultures. Hacknslash style combat that's not too quick(overall length of battles).  It's fun when avoiding an attack by moving around is a possiblity.  Make special dodging moves.  Teleportation, speed up, quick rolls and stuff, jumping?  Movement should be fast and fluid.  Or if your not planning on doing this make sure that standing there isn't boring with flashy animation and many different ones.  If my stats say I just dodged something I would like to see it.  And blocks should be shown, not represented in type.  A generic I got hit animation is lame.  Just a few suggestions.

Yes i like the idea of coloring or adapting your own armor so all are unique.

As for crafting maybe arrow making but you have to cut your trees for the wood etc. maybe we can own like a shed for storage after we build it ourselves something different. You want a booth to sell things ya have to make one hehe i dunno thinking different things im silly. But things you kinda have to work for.
