in Final Fantasy XI
Playonline seems like a great service. Im almost ready to play it getting the update right now, ill tell you guys what server I end up no and maybe we can play. I cant wait!

    I got to say that FF XI is a really well done game. Square/Enix has a good customer service and it is a bug-free environments. Missions are fun and the job system is too. Finally, crafting system is really fun. It is far from perfect though. There are seven major problems IMO:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

     

    1. The playing costs are way too high. It is worst than SWG! They really don't think of students when they fix those prices!!!

     

    1. The lack of character customization. A level 24 fighter will look very muck like another 24 level fighter.

     

    1. Lack of monster type. I am getting tired of fighting rabbits and goblins everywhere.

     

    1. The forced grouping. Forget soloing in FF XI. It is really too tough. This situation has the effect that sometimes, you can wait hours for group.

     

    1. No clan options. In DAOC, you had a clan safe and you clan colors. In FF XI, you don’t have such thins. This is on hell of a paradox with the number three problem. On one side you have no choice to form group, on the other side, nothing is done to make long lasting group more attractive.

     

    1. There seems to have too much player for the game to be fun sometimes. Take me for example. To make a little money I've decided to mine. I can have really tough time getting some mining point when there is many peoples playing the game. In the week end it is a real pain in the ass. This situation is the same I ht hunting spot. You can have trouble leveling in heavy camped site like Valkrum desert.

     

    1. The Play Online interface is quite annoying. There is too much step before getting in and out of the game. This is a typical enter in FF XXI:

    -         Double click on the Play Online icon;

    -         Wait for loading;

    -         Click to stop animation/music;

    -         Click to start Play Online;

    -         Click on your Play Online member ID;

    -         Enter your password;

    -         Click ok for your password;

    -         Wait for loading;

    -         Click to choose “Game”;

    -         Click to choose FF XI;

    -         Wait for loading;

    -         Click to play;

    -         Click to pass the “Don’t play to much if you don’t want to ruin your life” message;

    -         Wait for loading;

    -         Click to stop FF XI Animation;

    -         Click to accept the yada yada;

    -         Click to select your character;

    -         Click on your character;

    -         Click to confirm your character

    -         Wait for loading;

    -         YOU ARE FINALY IN! image

     

    Man, I miss the DOAC way to get in game! It was so much faster!

     

    In the end, I got to say that FF XI is a really good game. But I miss something in it. I don't exactly know what it is, but I’m not fully satisfied. DAOC remain, IMO, the best MMORPG.

    Exactly how is it worse (cost wise) then SWG?   SWG is 15 bucks a month.  Compared to FFXI which is 12.95.   Which is the standard fee for most MMORPG's now at least.

    He probably means how you have to pay for each additional character you want to play, which I agree is friggin retarded.

    You have the ability to switch jobs at will.  You don't really need more then one character.   As long as the single ability remains true.  Do we really need another game with 8 characters slots.  Where 1 is your main.  That gets 99% of your play time.  2 to 8 are your twinks that are played on a whim.  Only bought out when you want to show off to a newbie?   Thank you, but i'll pass.

    By having my single Elvaan character.  I've managed to accomplish alot since October.  I have gained a total of 100+ character lvls.  I have 3 advanced jobs unlocked and have managed to get 4 main jobs over 25.   Probably do the quest for Bard Advanced job later this week.

    I find the only 1 character thing a blessing.image

    Most of what u listed is true.

     I still love the game though, so much done. Maybe we can expect an expansion to make this game even better or at least PvP.image

    Playonline is horrible... It fezzes all the time, it only works like half the time. Then even if it does work the sound stops.. its proply just with me but this isnt what I call a good first impression for this game to me..

    Hi again,

    I got to say that the cost is lower without adding other characters. That is why I told it was more expensive.

    Even if I point some problem, I got to say that I like this game! It is great! But there is room for improvment., and I miss some things that were present in DAOC.

    Actually it is definitely you. image Oh and about your clicky-clicky problems? You should have gotten it on ps2. Thats what its meant for. Comes out for PS2 in march F.Y.I.

    Well dude, I wish I had some high specs computer but I dont. Your proply right ps2= easier for me but also= way more money (I dont have a ps2) lol.

    And in response to Yolkix - PS2 is pretty cheap for a console. Never been a better time to buy. (cept when ps3 comes out)

    0_0 i got so many freaking cards i'd like to sell on ebay, but no one is buying them :( i guess its to late for me to try to sell yugioh and pokemon cards. Lol the thing is, that i have really good cards to lol
