SWG STATUS

in Star Wars Galaxies

Hey guys looking for some info about the status of SWG. I played it from realease for about 9 months and stopped playing due to a RL situation. Im trying to get back into a mmorpg and was wondering how this game is. I know the have added some extreme patch to the game and also the expansion. How much has the game been changed. For the better or worse? Whats the big differences?

Any info is appreciated

    It's not an MMORPG anymore for starters.

    If you played for 9 months after launch, then there were 3 expansions in between and 2 complete game revamps.

    Not a single thing is left as it was.

    There's a free trial. Try that.

    Not to be as ass about it.. but read the first page or two of the site and you'll get a pretty clear picture.

    And don't pay anything.

    Nope just tell him to investigate the game, from the press, gamers, mags etc...

    THEN read the boards maybe, take a look around at all the great things that have been done in the game...

    THEN try the free trial and as yourself how long has the game been free to try???  Myabe ask yourself why people are telling you to read the reports on the game instead of telling you flat out?

    In the end you choose, but do yourself a favor and play the trial before you pay them anything.

    Don't give $OE a single dime, whatever they're offering, I'll double it!!!

     On a serious note, though, your heart would break if you came back and saw the game in its current state. The CU and to a much larger degree the NGE has fundamentally changed the game you used to play. Crafting is gone, entertainment has been disintegrated, jedi run rampant with no restraints, the GCW is non-existant and finally the devs still don't listen, but they tend to lie more often and the mods still have attitude problems towards PAYING customers.

         Try the trial, but essentially it will only wreak havoc on your fond memories. Join the Refugees/Exiles instead.

    Imagine going into a MacDonalds for the first time in 1 year, ordering a Big Mac and Fries. You sit down, unwrap the Big Mac and see a sweaty cinema hot dog in a stale bun with stringy brown lettuce. You look at the fries and see strips of dried salted squid instead, you taste the coke and it tastes like cold tea. You complain to the managment and are told "This is what the customers wanted, enjoy it or leave". You ask for your money back since the Big Mac and fries are still being advertised using the year old pictures and you feel you've been cheated. At this point you're banned from MacDonalds and escorted out of the resteraunt. At this point you can either go to Burger King or disguise yourself and go bac to MacDonalds to eat the food you don't like but pretending it's delicous as you think about the old days.

    Since you're an old vet, you have a free 14 day trial available where you can play the game like you were subscribed (not to be confused with the 10day trial).  All you have to do is install the game from your original disks and then login to launchpad with your old account.  You'll have access to everything you did before you quit, plus JTL (if you didn't already have it).  Best way to find out if you want to sub again :)

    Unless they kill off every NGE clicky Jedi that was made without earning it or Helios is fired one or the other.. actually the whole dev team.. then I would log in.

    Ya know,  they don't care if you log in or not so long as you PAY.  In fact,  they probably hope you don't log in,  it reduces server lag.

    But to each their own...

    First and probably last time I will ever agree with Obraik. Something I should like to add however, you will be wasting a good half day with the install and updates, this game is a abortion.
