I just recently bought a new dell with a 2.8ghz dual core, 2gb ram, and a 256mb pci ati radeon x600 se hypermemory video card. I also just bought my girlfriend a new video card for her system so we could play games together and I only spent $100 bucks on a 256mb geforce 7300gs with turbo cache supporting up to 512mb of video memory (if you have 1gb system memory, which she does). I'm thinking that the geforce for 100 kicks the hell out of the x600 that came with my dell, am i right? and if i am, how much better is the 7300 gs?

It's actually not that much better Mavick, actually IHMO the GS chipsets for Nvidia have always been a little underperforming. The main reason why you got that card at such a great deal is that it's pricely that, a GS model, which basically means it's a typical 7300 with the 580U chipset but with restricted pipe lines.
Practical differences to that is basically nill, but that's the reason. Your x600 is a wonderfull card either way you slice it so I wouldn't worry about it to much, I personally prefer nvidia but that's just a personal choice.
As a side note, I believe Anandtech had a nice review of both Nvidia and ATi lines up last month, with side by side comparisons, if you want to get into detail about both cards, that would be the place to go.
