    Not impressed at all .....

..... Look at the animations for instance.  They lack fluidity of movement.  The dragon flying is just abysmal animation as is the combat. Those are the kind of details that are complete "immersion breakers", and playing MMORPGs is all about keeping "immersion" in a fantastic world.  To it's credit though, the draw distance is pretty good.

Lets just pray that the gameplay is fun.  If it's going to steal any subscribers from WoW, it's going to have to be casual friendly.  If it appeals only to the hard-core players, then it will go the way of EQ2.  And before you start flaming me .... just look at subscription numbers.  5million vs a couple 100K?  Get serious.

I'd rather have a great game, that is very difficult and constantly pushes players, which is Brad is striving to do, rather than have an MMO  where I can achieve the end level in a week of gameplay. Sorry, but Brad has said the game is FOCUSED on grouping, with raiding and solo content being available but certainly not to the extent of WoW. He's not aiming for WoW's status, he's aiming to complete the MMO he once had, EverQuest, and he wants to bring back that kind of world. I, for one, am excited.

Yes, the fluidity of the models is a little poor, but the game is still in Beta 2, soon to be Beta 3. I think by launch they will have that fixed, we still have a long time before this game is released.

Still withholding judgement for the final product, but those animationd did look really bad. As long as the gameplay makes up for it, though, that is a minor worry...and as was said it IS only in the second phase beta.

Vanguard seems to have that EQ2 half great quality/ half average quality thing going.

The giant looked fantastic. I was really impressed with it.

The dragon ride was as stiff as the griffon ride in EQ2 was at release.

The horse animation looks good. The player sits stiff as a board on a galloping horse.

The sea floor looked pretty good, what we could see of it. Details like that go a long way towards the immersion.

I'm curious if there were monsters/creatures in the areas those fly-by's took place. It looke thered were monsters of some sort at the row of wooden houses, when the character rode by on horseback. Maybe the game didn't draw in npc's in that fast of a pass?

It's beta, it's early. I'm hoping, as many others are, that they iron out those little things that turn folks off to a game.

Thanks for the video. Much appreciated.

Who cares how many subscription numbers a game has as long as it's good? Besides, I don't think the current market could even handle 2 games with 5 million subscribers. I'm glad WoW is there to keep a certain type of gamer happy, I'm the certain type that Vanguard will make happy.

    can't wait for that game....

BTW, animation.... they get better and better as the game is close to launch.  My job is game testing so i know this first hand.

Character/mob/mount/ship animations are not yet finished.  That will be something which is done during Beta 3, which is starting now.

Please note Brad McQuaid's response to a poster in this thread....

Man the sky and night sky looks intense. The trees and stones look terrific. Seems like a great place just to go exploring in.

    Reading for comprehension.

Look two posts above your "comment" and click on the link.

Your absence in Vanguard will be akin to removing your hand from a bucket of water and then examining it to see if your hand left a permanent hole in the water.

Ok, if you would go up two posts and read a bit you might find the answer to your post. But then again you could just be another SOE basher which is fine. I would just tell you to come back after it is released and judge if you like/dislike the models and animations.

You got there first spirit!! Oh well he will get the point I guess.

I can only comment on what i see and i see bad animations..but i know you will still cry if i bad mouth vanguard. I just hope you dont get your hopes up on a raiding intensive mmoprg (like thats original). I know you will also swallow anything brad says to you so theres no point arguing any further...and no its not early in developement, its been in beta over a year and animations still look awful. why do you think sigil dont show loads of videos of combat? because it sucks and they dont want the public to see how bad it sucks....warhammer is still over a year away from release and it looks more polished then vanguard does. But your probably an Everquest fanboi so anything brad says is gospel to you.

Well that link addressed nothing but the animation. While im sure they will be tweaking the models and such untill release and beyond, it still looks like an eq2 clone. By clone i mean visually, gameplay who knows what the game will be at release.

Seeing all the smart ass replies from brads faithful legion of drones make me hope that everyone that gets told it isnt the game for them or to play wow actually do. It would be great for vg to have one server with you and the other 10k slaves to the vision.

Very well said, I mean everyones taste in games is different.
As for the video, I really liked it, personally I think it's very hard to judge a game just by watching a small video clip.

I am still trying to figure out the method to the madness with SOE participating in Vanguard since EQ1 & 2 are their moneymakers. The game purely reminds me of a new Everquest 2.

I just dont get it. Unless SOE is just trying to Station Pass these popular titles so no one else has time to play other mmo's.

Hell I only have time for 1 mmo due to real life scenarios. And will Vanguard be their for the long haul? And will it offer more than Everquest MMO's?
