I'm on LOTRO forums. Have to say, the more I see, the more disappointed I get. I'm back to play EQ2. Not sure if I'll even try LOTRO at this point.

I'd like to see LOTRO be a great game, but I have many doubts. All the bad experiences I've had with past Turbine games haven't helped.

    El,
Technically this statement is just an opinion, not a fact: "None of the prior 3 were particularly awe inspiring."
and this is an educated guess based on the facts: "Anyone who is expecting much out of LOTRO is in for a dissapointment"

Other than that, yep you pretty much nailed it.

I won't be as harsh as some are to Turbine, while I agree they've never made a game that is worth a pile a flip since their inception, I think the problem comes from their incredible lack of business sense, not a lack of knowledge about games. I think they KNOW what should be in a game but they don't have the money to produce what needs to be there, so they start cutting things, hoping they can limp along long enough to add what is needed. It hasn't worked yet, and you would think someone over there would wise up and quit taking on these HUGE projects without a partner to help fit the bill.

This is America "for me anyway" and all of us silly Americans will flock in herds to purchase the latest, greatest thing...wether it be crap or not.  Any time something new is released, people will buy it, even if its crap.  And as long as people keep buying poorly made mmo titles, they will continue to be made and the devs wont listen to anyone, beta testers or not.

After playing many beta's myself, i have learned that beta testers are for one purpose "IMO" and that is for the devs to test their loads on servers, fix bugs such as falling threw worlds, walls you can walk threw etc....They simply dont seem to want players opinions on the games, they just want you to help them find their errors and try justifying YOU doing their work by saying "You Can Play The Game Before Any Of Your Friends!" /gag

I just tried the Trial of DDO and uh... I think I need a new keyboard because I twisted mine in half..
And I got a stye in my eye from a peice of plastic shrapnel..

I'm now downloading the full version of Eq2.. I love the game so far, it's epic, it draws me in..
So far out of the 100 mmo's I've played this is the only one to do this.. May be the half-frame-flashes of subliminal advertising? dunno. But eq2 is so far the best MMO imho. I really hope the Trial of the Isle is less epic than the city I just paid 19 bucks for. If so I'm gonna love life.

    Thanks.

I actually really liked AC2. Of course I started the game about a year after beta. It's graphics were every bit as good as EQ2. Plus there were some very unique quests not found in other MMO's. The game was seamless and there wasn't an endgame per so. No one ever reached max level. Too bad that game ended because it got much better after launch.

I personally am looking forward to LoTRO. It's the MMO I want to try the most along with Pirates of the Burning Sea.

Let me be one to post I will leave EQ2 mostly for LOTRO.  I am already a bit burnt out on EQ2, not even having a character at max level, and don't get me wrong I love the expansiveness of the world, it is just getting harder to find good groups (even in my guild since most play more than me) to advance at a decent rate in the 50's.  I will likely keep the account active, but will definately not play as much.

I don't expect LOTRO to be Nirvana, but it will certainly be entertaining and fun (for differing amounts of time for different people) . From what I have seen I plan on being entertained by it for a long time.

yeah, im not expecting much from LoTR Online. If there is a free trial I will check it out, but it seems like another fantasy mmo in a world with too many already...
