So a couple or questions

So I think that this game is shaping up to be incredible, but I have a few questions and thanks for answering.

1. How do jobs/proffesions/whatever work in this game?  Are they like Knight, Wizard, and Monk and such?

2. How would one use a siege weapon in this game?  (If there are, but I heard that they are in it).

3. How hardcore do you think this game will become?  I mean will it be like WoW where doing a raid/war/whatever is just for those that have no life?  Or can you fight in the large scale things without really having to be the best and wasting your life away (Of course for this game that wouldn't be so bad)?

4. What do you think the fee would be?  It's a huge game, so I'm guessing around the 10-15 range.  (Note this is only opinion, I don't really expect any facts for this one).

Little information has been currently divulged as to the PRECISE classes available in DF,but I think some have been mentioned like the Paladin, the Gladiator, etc. With the flexible skill system that DF has however,it would be best to presume that a wild variety of common classes will be available. Hybrids may also be popular with DF's skill system. Rogue paladin mage anyone?
    2. How would one use a siege weapon in this game?  (If there are, but I heard that they are in it).
There are indeed seige weapons in DF. These are very expensive weapons as you'd imagine. Again, seemingly no official information on how seige weapons will work, but I'd imagine they would be moved by a Seige Operator (like SB) of some sort,or moved along by several people. But they can be used to knock down anything. Houses, clan cities....

A concern over PvE. I've been told the crafting in DF will also involve doing quests and 'grinding' mobs for resources and so on. The NPC factions within each city are also meant to be diverse and interesting; one Mahirim faction involves you killing people of the same race! (player maybe?) To be honest though,I would imagine PvE to play a significant role in the lives of the DF community. People will need to get their gold from somewhere, and some of their basic weaponry.
As for how hardcore the PvP might get? That will have to honestly wait until the beta is released. My view is that in the first few days there will be some form of anarchic ganking in the areas outside of the starter towns. Players might immediately decide to live outside the law and start massive ganking fests. With the 'new smell' of DF this will be fun for some.
However as time progresses the players will settle down and begin to claim turf, claim clanstone cities and gather resources. And start minor turf wars with rival clans. Quite a lot of clans in DF are already being set-up without a platform to even play on.  Then the more 'organised' PvP begins,to some extent. PK clans,anti-PK clans,anti-elf clans,Mahirim/Orc clans,'lone wolves'.......
    All down to the players.

Probably around the average price per month between 9.99-15.99 I'd imagine.

I'm not the most grilled DF expert (in terms of past dev quotes anbd so on),but I hope I helped to answer some of your questions. The official forums may be able to help out more.

      1. There arn't any set jobs or proffessions that you choose from, rather there are hundreds of skills that you are able to gain and level up. Skills that range from archery, to magic, to melee, to crafting and whatever else. So you can pretty much create whatever you wish to be.

    2. From what i know, they have only mentioned siege weapons being in game, and that's about it.

    3. Like Suitepee said, this answer will probably have to wait until beta when we get a chance to see how the game plays. Personally, I don't think that you have to be too hardcore of a player to take part in these events, pvp wise. Items and armor shouldn't have too big of a part in sieges and such, since you can die once and you lose it all.

    4. I'd guess around the same as other mmorpgs, they all tend to charge about the same.

DF is not revolving too much around gear, more around skill. So rest assured not everyone is going to be strolling around carrying their best gear (not that gear will be wildly uber) all of the time. They might do in SOME clan wars though, for this reason:

-The way that someone dies in DF is thus; you hurt them until they are 'incapacitated'. The options for that player then come into the attackers' hands; they can either wait to be resurrected by another player,or the attacker can execute a 'finishing move' on them (which can include beheading the victim and claiming their head,I'd think) and thus make them res at their 'bind point'.

Now in clan wars, you'd imagine people to stick together. Thus you'd have an extra tactical detail of people 'resurrecting' their own members and 'finishing off' the enemy. Therefore,if you knew you weren't going to be full looted in the midst of a clan battle, you would take some of your best gear out. Of course,if the battle goes awry you'd best run.

So items will have some purpose, but player skill could mean Dragon-Armor geared warrior falls to cloth & rags ranger.
