4 - its part of the lore, u know that thing thats like a story. and it is a sex apeal, what do you think the internets are even for!?
The internet is for defense and research. It was developed under research grants from DARPA (the original 'internet' was DARPANET). The original intenet was to give our military and civillian government infrastructure in the USA a network which systems across the country could communicate over and would be robust enough to sustain losses incurred by entire states vanishing from the grid (in case of thermonuclear warfare).
It was only really opened up to commercial interests about 16 years ago (late 80's/early 90's)

Did you complain when CCP used a flash animation of a planetary bombardment for about a year on the front page of their EVE Online site since you used your points 1, 2, and 4 as arguements for the banner you are referring to?
Yes there are women in the game.
I don't see you pointing out SOE for their obsessive use with women dressed very little in everything of theirs for EQ and EQ 2.

The point I am trying to make is that the problem is far greater then just one add for EVE yet you seem to be trying to seperate them out when others do it far more.

Everyone knows mmo ads frequently include the use of sex appeal. He isn't saying it's exclusive to the game.
The troll's point is that it's simply funny how Eve fans seem to ramble on and on about how mature thier game is, when they in fact use the same types of lowest-denominator advertisements. I too find it delightfully ironic I must admit..how many times have they called WoW a little kid's game with big purple boobs?
Originally posted by BuZZKilgore Originally posted by Sycondaman Originally posted by BuZZKilgore Originally posted by Hohbein 99.99999% percent of online gamers are male. this advert appeals to males very much so. that'd probably be why.
Yes but I though Eve was above this sort of thing.
Wait, you're saying that Eve is above advertising and making money?
Nope, you just said it.
But you implied it. You're saying that EVE is above a common marketing technique that works and that you have admitted is a common working market technique. But the basics of it: any company will use 'sex to sell' if their game allows females with the potential to be sexy.
Eww look at your avatar, I'll bet you don't get any cyber from chicks with big boobs in Eve.
BTW, why are all the male avatars from Eve butt ugly? Man just look at some of you guys, did you meen for them to look that way or did you just use a random picture?

Hey in EQ2 last year if you typed /pizza you could order a pizza hut pizza. have you tried typing /whore in Eve to see what happens?

5. EvE is for mature minded people, EvE requires teamwork and strategy. Skills which most of the 12-year old mmorpgers out there do not have.
wrong
all you need is to do something once in eve and after that its all simple. Its all tribal knowledge in that its passed from one player to the next. Any 12 year old can pick this game up super fast.
*sighs and points to the 'Minmatar Concept art image and said minamatar BS called the Tempest'*
For those who don't know (before I asses the troll's post) this is concept art for the dress style of the female minmatar race of eve. You can find it if you look into the Minmatar Race Lore on the main site. The image is over 3 years old. The use of MMORPG to edit the image to use sex appeal to sell it is quite good because it does the two main things it was supposed to (points to the entire thread reaction) IT GOT YOUR ATTENTION!
*Sigh*
Hell I think the image is on the 2005 official Eve movie/advertisement
Now to the troll's point - yay -
Yeah we preach we are Elite, Mature, Your God's and that you should bow down before us... Anyway, that means s__ all really. Sometimes I just pray for the day some of my corp mates would grow up, and me being 4-15 years younger then them it can be highly depressing. But meh, if we want to act stupid/use immature or in actual essence 'Mature' advertising, so be it. I wouldn't mind seeing 28k+ on during low times.
This isn't really a caring reply, just here to point out the first bit so this thread won't go on for another 5 pages about Eve and hypocrasy.(sp?)
P.S
I bet you all entered didn't you -_^

Games nowadays are all about showing as much skin in female characters as possible, i mean come on, if you compare the EVE ad with the DDO ad, i mean come on, you get the picture.
I love hot womans with huge boobs and I don't see anything wrong on that. I guess that is, because I haven't never lived in Puritan culture. Couple months ago I was walking around street and I did see huge street ad where woman's another breast was uncovered and clearly visible. It wasn't game, sex shop or hardware store ad. It was from female magazine/organization, that was celebrating their fight against breast cancer.
Only problem that I can see, is that those banners are too small.
NOT using a hot babe in an ad to sell something to primarily males would concern me more.
That would just be.... weird...
Still, EVE needs off ship activites badly in my opinion, an EnB style station system would work wonders.

Sex sells. Simple marketing. They use hot women to sell deoderant, chewing gum and electric shavers. Why should EvE online or any other game (anarchy online for example) be any different. Just another EvE hate boi looking for a reason to bitch about a game that has held the number one spot waaay to long in his eyes.
ok most gamers are male ,alot of mmo gamers have no social life and have no girls friend and stuff so, theyll play a game that has girls in it that they like.

Whats the big deal? So what.
I love looking at hot women. I use to play the game, but I got sick of mining too quick and quit.
