I made this thread because I am simply getting FED UP with the amount of flaming a great yet so misunderstood game like RuneScape gets all over the Internet. So, coming away from its own forum where no one is, I came to this forum to ask you a question : Why hate this game?
It beats a lot of other MMORPGs out there.
~Graphics: Maybe they stink compared to the likes of WoW and others, but so what? At least they are 3d! The game is free, requires no download (yes i know it stores stufff on your PC), and fits into an ordinary web browser.
~Sound: Same as above, had to be sacrificed for fun.
~~Sound-Music However, Jagex didn't sacrifice music. The game has lovely music, some of which you can listen to over and over again!
~Community: It's improved quite a bit recently, the number of macroers has cut down, and scamming in certain areas has halted.
~Perfomance and Lag: Very good game for running well, not a lot of lag except on VERY poor connections and just after updates.
~Gameplay: How can you complain about the gameplay? There's nothing wrong with it!
~Economy: Want some practice on being a marketer in real life? Then come to RuneScape! Lol seriously, the economy in this game is just out of control ; Jagex tried to fix this by bringing in the Construction skill to drain out a bit of money, but it didn't do well enough.

It's fun!
You can grind hours and hours on it!
It runs well!
It's really not that bad, so just try it and give your best shot. And if you proper don't like it, don't say anything. If you don't have anything nice to say, say NOTHING at all.
All of you people who flame this game never look into why the game is like that, and for that, I seriously doubt your intelligence as a gamer, and as a person.

But I'll give credit to Runescape. its the best graphical 3D web browser mmorpg. for that, it is a great and awesome game.
on a sidenote, it is also the ONLY Graphical 3D web browser mmorpg.
if we compare it to other mmorpgs.
it sucks. bad community, bad gameplay and bad graphics.

First of all, I have played Runescape; for a good while I played it a lot.
It was my first ever online game of any kind. I thought it was great. Untill I found out what else is there. I don't hate Runescape though. I do think it is boring. Whatever it is you are doing in the game - mining, fighting, crafting, fishing - it is just clicking, waiting, clicking again.
I've moved on to other, and, in my opinion, better things. If people, like yourself, enjoy playing Runescape then by all means play it and enjoy it. You seem to have a very firm opinion about why you like the game, so why care what others think anyway?
Kid, I played the game since it came out (i'm talking RSC), and played it for a while. Like the poster above me, I didn't know there was better (and hell, I was young). However, it is a true fact that, yes, compared to other games it is a bad game.
The fact that you said none of us are "true gamers" is just sad. We aren't gamers because we want to play more than a game of who can click the longest? Give me a break.
I played the game from the start of RSC all the way up to the release of RS2, and played RS2 for a "little" bit.
RS2 ruined whatever RSC had (the PvP). I used to play the game just for the PvP, because it was the one element of the game that was good. but RS2's pvp has nothing in it now, and as far as i'm concerned the game is horrible now.
So, call us "non-gamers" all you want, but i'm just telling you my opinion. I played the game for a long time, and RS2 screwed up the one thing that RSC had coming for it.

Let me tell you something. I was a beta tester of Runescape. I played it for three years, retired at combat level 103, and has a close bond with The Old Nite (RIP buddy.). Furthermore, i was backstabbed by my best friend who over time emerged as the #1 player in the history of the game. I was one of Bluerose's first twenty customers for rune armour, and i remember when R2H swords cost well over two million. I remember when there was no Runehq, no RSC. Oh, wait for it.. no bad community. You could get killed in the cabbage patch and it was awesome, no wilderness.
My point?
If you're going to be ignorant to the opinions of others, get the hell off this website. We are telling you like it is, just as you requested. Jagex lost control of it's user list, and people are going to continue to bash them for doing so. So let's stop being a one trick pony, because you are just channeling the insults on yourself.

He is right though most people have little to back up their claims that it stinks.
Other then perhaps poor graphics there is nothing wrong with runescape. And comming from a community that proclaims ultima online is the best game ever I think you guys are very hipocrytical.
Take a game like WOW... and try to find one thing done better other then graphics then runescape.
Quests...no. Crafting... no. Pvp... no.
As for beeing a grindfest... you can acheive 99 in any skill in less then a month... and the #2 ranked player in all skills has been playing less than 1 year I beleive. If you compair it to WOW which takes about 2 months to reach lvl 60 you can see that it is not really a grindfest but their just happens to be alot more things you can train.
The unfortunate problem is this gaming community is filled with imature jackasses... just look how many people flame SOE every single day when 80% of then never played the game. THIS gaming community is far worse then runescapes free servers.
Stop sucking up to runescape, that game is the most sucky game i have ever played, the community is filled with jackasses, people who can't spell, and also dumbasses as well. The Gameplay is repatitive, and plus, crafting is not fun at all!

She's the definition of a true mmorpg gamer. Finding something one likes, and having fun with it. And showing good manners to others. Sad to see the old RS go down..... The old community is looong gone. Though I've heard on the current Pay servers in RS, there is some semblence of a decent community.
To the original poster, please tell us what OTHER mmorpgs you have played? If none, then you are in no position to comment on now good or bad RS is vs other mmorpgs since you nave NOT played any others.
