Will I want to know if this author is good because I can buy it for 13.50.  I want to know if I buy this and read it will i actually learn how to make games?.  Thanks in advance.

    On the subject of game programming, one book can not be a complete source which is everything about gaming. On top of that, it is a introduction/beginning type of book, so it has select a sample of various aspects of programming which may or may not fit in with what you want.  If you are not currently very good and very knowledgable in programming at least one compiled language, I highly recommend you get about 2 years of expertise in programming one language before tackling something like this.  It is a long road you are considering travelling...
