I say that Pirates of the caribbean online & pirates of the burning seas should both combine. Disney has lots of money, they both have the same basic idea, and are both pirate games. They should take the voodoo magic, the ability to have friends on a ship and the graphics from PotBS and update them alot. Then you take the ships and ocean travelling features from PotBS and also from PotC take the kid friendly stuff, so you have a good community and then you use Disneys money to advertise, a lot, newpaper, magazine, billboard, tv, computer, then youve got a bunch of possible people wanting to play. After that you take a few more things added and you have one game, a good game with up to date graphics with a friendly community. And you should check out the PotBS video from E3. it shows about the sailing system, but thats just my idea. Think its good or bad tell me.

They are two different games. Even at E3 in Los Angeles, the Disney Dev's came over to see PotBS, played a demo, shook hands, and agreed as much.
The Disney game will have magic, undead, simple quests, and flashy ohh ahh.. like an arcade game. They want it to be fun for the family, to gain a quest from Jack Sparrow, and defeat the bad guys.
PotBS goes much deeper, a full real world economy, polotics, trade, PvP, in depth missions, more complex skills/character advancement, etc.
Each one will fill a different role. Disney's is a game about pirates, PotBS is a game with pirates in it. Disney has fun for the family, and when they 'grow' into a more in depth game, maybe they'll move over...
SWTOR. Face it, in the Scooby Doo Mystery Solving Van of coolness, this game is Velma. In this current MMO climate it has about as much chance for survival as a group of inquisitive teenagers in a 1980s slasher flick. -Tardcore May, 2011
OP, not a bad idea, but it would never work. As others have stated the 2 games are very different in nature. PotBS is historically accurate and has PvP as a major factor in the game enjoyment. Disney's pirate game is more family-orientated with WoW graphics ( cartoonish).

As SpinnakerSam would put it...Pirates of the Carribean is a game about pirates, Pirates of the Burning Sea is a game with Pirates.
not to mention other fundamental design differences that would make something like this completely unreasonable, both games are targetting completely different crowds...PotC appeals to the fantasy nuts who just can't get enough magic. PotBS appeals to those of us who are sick of +3 helmets and skilless combat.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Damn it, I want to change my vote..
Potc sounds more for the children, and PotBS is more advanced, so let them stay out of each way.

its candy
PotCO: Simple, relatively linear story with easy gameplay and Disney's "happy feeling" environment hanging around everywhere. If you're gonna fight undead skeleton zombies, make them look like undead skeleton zombies instead of an inflatable skeleton prop in a nursery school. Pirates weren't young, pure-at-heart heroes, nor did they look the part, but that's a different topic entirely. A children's game all the way.
PotBSO: Complex sailing system and relatively open character development, with a relatively genuine old-fashioned environment. A player-run economy. No cuddly monsters, and no good guy pirates. A deep storyline influenced by player choices, and high levels of animosity between navy and pirates. No graphic content to keep out younsters, just complexity.
There is no way you could possibly "mix" these games and have anything halfway worth while come out. Not to mention mixing the games would be far more complex than them each continuing on their own separate ways. It's like saying mix the elite, successful niche game EVE with the dumbed-down, simplistic SWG to make them into one great game since they are both sci-fi. Not a perfectly parallel compairison, but I hope you get my idea. Just because Flying Labs is an amateur company, doesn't mean that they won't be more successful on their own.
Je mettrai l'amour sur dos de moi.
SWG- Left after they ruined it
WoW- Left after 2 years
EVE- Left after three days
Pirates of the Burning Sea will be the cure to my cancer.
